The 3-sensor camera lacks 100x zoom, but has an excellent 64-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x hybrid, which does a good job even with night shooting. The ultra-wide angle was also successful, and the 120-degree coverage angle can be called a good bonus.

Very much (what really there, almost everything), as usual, about the Samsung Galaxy S21 was known even before the announcement. Leaks are an indispensable part of the modern life of large corporations. And just the “leaked” design of the new flagships made us think about too little development time – outwardly, these are really the same Note with minimal deviations.
The Samsung Galaxy S21, like the Galaxy S20, exists in three guises: the relatively compact S21, the large S21+ but little different in terms of hardware, and the S21 Ultra – as they say, a smartphone for all the money. And they all follow the path of “cluster holes” set by Note20: the rear cameras received large lenses slightly recessed into the die, while the die itself protrudes slightly above the body; the problem of the front camera is solved in the same way – it is located in a miniature hole in the center of the status bar; the side faces are made of polished unpainted metal, regardless of the color version of the case.
Differences from “laptops” are not too noticeable, but still there – traditionally slightly more rounded corners and the way the rear camera unit “flows” on the edges. But these are all the same Galaxy as in 2020 – the appearance directly indicates that we are not facing a revolutionary update.
Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra
The most specific of all the Galaxy S21 is the S21 Ultra , which packs in the most of what’s new without any compromise. It reflects the current level of development of the smartphone division of Samsung – we will take it for full testing. Now let’s talk about the key features of the Korean flagship.
And right away we answer the question that appeared after numerous rumors: does the S21 Ultra close the Note story? According to company representatives, no, Samsung has no plans to stop the famous (including scandalous) series. But at the same time, yes, the S21 Ultra supports the S Pen. True, as an option, the pen does not lie in the box with the smartphone, and there is no special slot for it on the case. The brand new generation stylus can be purchased along with special covers – like the one you can see in the photos above. Otherwise, there are no restrictions – the screen, as in the case of Note, was developed jointly with Wacom, and the S Pen is sold in two versions – the usual contact and S Pen Pro with support for contactless commands (as in Note). Therefore, there is still reason to fear that Note20 was the last. But the official answer is that they should not be. Will we believe?
Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra
The screen in the S21 Ultra is slightly smaller than in the S20 Ultra, now 6.8 inches versus 6.9 inches in the previous model (and in the Note20 Ultra). The smartphone still turned out to be huge, but a small gap for the new Note just remained. The Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel is curved, its resolution, as before, is WQHD +. There is support for a high refresh rate mode – up to 120 Hz. As before, when to activate it, the smartphone itself decides for you.
Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra
Quad camera upgraded from S20 and Note20. The main module again received a 108 MP matrix (images are taken at a resolution of 12 MP by default), but Samsung claims that autofocus has been improved for it, and the images obtained with it have a wider dynamic range and color palette. The module with an extended viewing angle got a 12-megapixel sensor – and it finally got autofocus. The other two 10-megapixel cameras are responsible for the zoom – and both: one offers a threefold increase, the second tenfold. The front camera received a 40-megapixel sensor. On all (both the rear – regardless of the zoom, and the front) cameras can shoot video in 4K resolution at 60 frames per second. With the Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra winning in our flagship smartphone camera comparison test (albeit by a marginal margin), it will be doubly interesting to check out the S21 Ultra’s additional camera advances.
Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra |
Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra will apparently be the first smartphone with a Wi-Fi 6E module on board – alas, official support for 6 GHz networks will most likely never appear in Russia. Representatives of Samsung could not give any optimistic comments regarding this standard. The same applies to 5G support – common to all three new Galaxy S: they only work in Sub-6 bands, which are not available in Russia even at a theoretical level. But the almost forgotten, it seemed, already UWB (Ultra-Wide Band) technology should work, according to the manufacturer: it is available on the S21 Ultra and S21 and allows you to use your smartphone as a digital car key and interact with compatible Samsung accessories, the first of which were headphones Galaxy Buds Pro and Galaxy Smart Tag keychain – the smartphone can see them on the map and exchange signals with them if you lose them.
Samsung Galaxy Smart Tag
The hardware platform that is used in all Galaxy S21 was introduced a couple of days earlier – this is the Exynos 2100, a 5-nanometer seven-core solution with one of the most powerful Cortex-X1 cores clocked at 2.9 GHz, three productive Cortex-A78 and three energy-efficient Cortex-A55 cores, as well as GPU ARM Mali G78 graphics. The manufacturer promises a 30% increase in base performance and a 40% increase in gaming performance compared to Exynos 990. The memory in all S21 is the fastest. The drive is UFS 3. 1 with a capacity of 128, 256 or 512 GB (for Ultra, for S21 and S21 + – 128 or 256 GB), RAM – LPDDR5, 12 or 16 GB (also for Ultra, for S21 and S21 + – uncontested 8 GB). There is no slot for memory cards in this generation of Samsung flagships. As there is no mini-jack, which is easy to see in the photographs. S21 Ultra battery – 5000 mAh.
Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra
The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is available in two basic colors: Phantom Black and Phantom Silver with a frosted tempered glass back. Also on the official Samsung website, you can order a customized version: “titanium phantom”, “blue phantom” or “bronze phantom”. Prices and release dates will be added after the event dedicated to the announcement of the devices. Well, an obligatory detail – all S21 will be delivered without a charger and headphones. Caring for the environment, you know.
Samsung Galaxy S21+
Samsung Galaxy The S21+ is almost as good as the S21 Ultra in terms of dimensions and screen size of 6. 7 inches, but otherwise it is a slightly simpler version of the flagship. The screen is flat (not curved), with Full HD + resolution – and it is no longer friends with the S Pen.
Samsung Galaxy S21+
The camera is triple and already only with a triple hybrid zoom (optical, apparently, with a magnification of only 1.1 times, but a 64-megapixel Quad Bayer sensor is used, thanks to which zooming is possible). Shooting in 4K 60p is possible only on the rear camera, but, like in the Ultra version, shooting of 8K video and cinematic mode is available, in which you can choose to preview the next angle without interrupting the shooting in the current one, parallel shooting on the front and rear is also offered. cameras.
Samsung Galaxy S21 and Samsung Galaxy S21+
The Galaxy S21+ is made from Gorilla Glass Victus and is available in three colors: Phantom Purple, Phantom Black and Phantom Silver. The battery is 4,800 mAh.
Samsung Galaxy S21
Samsung The Galaxy The S21 is very close in performance to the S21+ – to the point where it lacks UWD technology, it offers roughly the same experience, just with a more compact and different design.
Samsung Galaxy S21
The Galaxy S21 has a 6.2-inch Full HD+ screen and a polycarbonate back – a little unexpected for a flagship, right? But the case feels very nice – and, unlike the cases of the S21 + and S21 Ultra, it is not slippery at all. So I would not call it a disadvantage in full – perhaps, on the contrary, this is the advantage of a more practical and convenient model.
Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy S21+ and Samsung Galaxy S21
Color options: phantom purple, phantom gray, phantom pink, phantom white.
Along with the flagship smartphones, the next Galaxy Buds headphones were traditionally presented – this time with the prefix Pro in the title.
The design has been updated, intelligent Active Noise Canceling has been added, the acoustic component has been improved, having received two speakers (11 mm woofer and 6.
