Ever since his childhood friend Rika died in a traffic accident, her ghost has stuck with him. But her spirit does not appear as the sweet girl Yuuta once knew. Instead, she manifests as a monstrous and powerful entity who fiercely protects him. Unable to control Rika’s violent behavior, Yuuta is helpless to stop the bloodshed that follows from her brutal vengeance. As a result, when apprehended by “Jujutsu” sorcerers–the secret guardians of the world, trained to combat forces like Rika–Yuuta wishes to be completely isolated so that no one else can get hurt. Yet his apprehender, the master sorcerer Satoru Gojou, has different plans for him: he will join Jujutsu High School and learn to control Rika in order to help people.
Now a first-year at this school, Yuuta starts to learn Jujutsu arts and combat malignant beings. Alongside his new classmates Maki Zenin, a Jujutsu weapons expert; Toge Inumaki, a spellcaster who uses his words as weapons; and Panda, a seemingly walking and talking panda bear, Yuuta begins to find his place in the world and, for once, to feel comfortable with his abilities. However, as his training progresses, Yuuta comes to learn that the dangers of the Jujutsu world go far beyond that of wicked spirits.… Expand

Petite Maman is short and sweet, yet fearlessly profound. A mix of fairytale, ghost story and rites-of-passage journey, this is at heart a cinematic parable about healing intergenerational wounds, about breaching the barriers that inevitably grow between parents and children.

What’s most refreshing about Petite Maman is that it doesn’t play coy with its magic, nor does it separate it from the sadder, darker reality that surrounds it.

There is magic in French writer/director Céline Sciamma’s beautiful new film Petite Maman. Running just 72 minutes, this spare and gentle little film has an emotional core that feels true and authentic.

The result is at once both the most ordinary and most enchanted thing that Sciamma has made so far, a wise and delicate wisp of a movie.

Petite Maman is richer in its simplicity; a lovely slice-of-life tale that knows that loss is so enormous and monumental that we can only linger with it for brief moments.

Be careful with Petite Maman; the movie is small and quiet, but if you let your guard down, it might devastate you.

Petite Maman feels more like an extended short story. That’s only in part owing to its having a runtime of just 72 minutes. It also has a deceptive uneventfulness and a sense of everything being casually . . . just so.

Yet another heartfelt movie from Céline Sciamma. I believe it’s my favourite one of hers.

So I mostly loved the film.
I feel like getting some criticisms off my chest though. Firstly, for me, the “Nelly” child actor wasn’t great. She wasn’t actively annoying thank god, but despite the French language I noticed she was kinda flatly delivering lines that should have had more variation. She also didn’t act with her eyes and walked like she knew she was being filmed. I’m very sensitive to bad child acting though, so I’m like primed to notice these things, unfortunately.
I also noticed that some of the writing was a bit weird. The film does that thing where kids say things kids would never say – e.g. “you didn’t invent my sadness”.
I only mention all this because in spite of these things I found the film very effective and moving. The Dad actor was actually great and exuded warmth. The scenes where the girls were clearly basically left to play and forget they were being filmed worked fantastically.
By the last third of the film when petite mamon learns what’s going on I was fully emotionally engaged. The line “I’m already thinking about you” absolutely sent me.… Expand

The story follows Nelly, a small girl that accompanies his young mother to empty her grandma’s house, who just died. There, in the woods, she encounters another girl, who may have an unexpected connection with her.
‘Petite Maman’ may not have the raw force of his previous effort; still, the sensibility in its characters transcends its short duration and the apparent simplicity of the story.
And what is really striking about the film is the acting of the two little girls, who, of course, are twin sisters in real life. Sciamma takes advantage of this bond by posing a fantastical but very intriguing concept that I don’t want to spoil. All in all, ‘Petite Maman’ proves that Sciamma is a master when it comes to transmitting pain with nothing but a few words.… Expand

Here Sciamma offers only half a movie -and not just because of its running time- packed with gender symbolisms that probably lean towards her personal story rather than some universal meaning. All you are left with in the end is a scene of utter beauty in the lake, as the rest of the ideas explored, mostly fall short or remain somewhat unuttered.… Expand

Netflix to release its film on DVD for the first time – Billboard
November 18, 2019
The Collector’s Edition also includes filming documentaries and interviews with the director
Participant Media
Mexican director Alfonso Cuarón’s Roma will be the first Netflix which will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray. The release is scheduled for February 11, 2020.
The Special Edition includes five stand-alone documentaries on the making of the film, including an interview with the director and Roma itself in 4K with Dolby Atmos theatrical sound quality. The release of the film that brought Netflix three Oscars in 2019In 1984, the Criterion Collection, which had specialized in distributing artistically significant films on VHS since 1984, moved to laserdisc, DVD and Blu-Ray since the 1990s.
The world premiere of “Roma” took place at the end of August 2018 at the Venice Film Festival, where the black-and-white film won the main prize – the Golden Lion. Already at the beginning of 2019, Roma took three Oscar statuettes: for Best Director, Best Foreign Language Film and Best Cinematography. The film is set in the middle-class Roma district of Mexico City. As in ancient Rome, there are patricians (wealthy families), plebeians (servants) and barbarians (revolutionaries). The narration in the film is conducted on behalf of the servants: the maid Cleo (Yalitza Aparasio) peering into the sky, named, of course, for a reason. Her name refers to one ancient Greek muse, and the image – to the nanny of Cuarón, who is close to her heart. Cleo has to conceive unsuccessfully, fall into the millstones of history, lose an unwanted child, and then, thanks to a brave act, ascend. As is often the case with Cuarón, one of the key events will take place on the sea beach. A review of the film by Alexei Vasilyev can be read here.

Cheat sheet for decoding video file names / Sudo Null IT News
Somehow it became interesting what different letters / numbers mean through a dot in the names of video files.
Post – the results of googling, generalization, structuring and some spelling corrections.
Perhaps someone will come in handy. For example, I stopped contacting TC .
CAMRip (CAM, screen, cloth)
Sometimes erroneously labeled as Screen (SCR). Video and sound are recorded on a camera in the cinema hall. The image can sometimes be shot at an angle to the screen, tremble, in some films the heads of other moviegoers are visible, etc. The sound quality is different, there may be interference such as the laughter of the public. Usually the worst and very first quality that can be found after the official release of the film.
Telesync (TS)
Ideally, it is recorded from the screen with a professional (digital) camera mounted on a tripod in an empty theater or in the operator’s cabin. Video quality is much better than CAMRip. Audio is recorded directly from a projector or other separate output such as a headphone jack in a chair. Thus, the sound is very good and without interference, usually in stereo mode. A lot of TS are actually CAMRips that got their names mixed up.
Telecine (TC roll)
A copy is taken from the film using special equipment (film scanner) or recorded from a special projector with outputs for audio and video. The quality depends on the equipment used – from good to indistinguishable from DVD, the sound is excellent. Sometimes there are problems with the naturalness of colors (“yellowness” of the picture).
Super Telesync (SuperTS, Super-TS, Digitization)
This is TS (occasionally TS) run through a computer – the film is brightened, leveled, extraneous image and sound noises are removed, etc. The quality is often not bad, but it depends on the creator.
DVD-Rip (DVDRip)
Rip from original DVD, often compressed to MPEG4 to reduce movie size. Basically there are DVDRip with a volume of 650-700 MB and 1.3-1.5 GB. The quality is very good, although it depends on the skill of the creator (“ripper”). Sometimes better quality versions are referred to as SuperDVD, HQ DVD.
DVD5 (DVD-5)
Copy (uncompressed) from the original DVD. Volume – 4-4.5 GB.
DVD9 (DVD-9)
A copy (uncompressed) from a two-layer original DVD. Volume – 7-9GB
R5
DVD-Rip from a disc distributed within the CIS (and such discs are released earlier than in other countries) with the original (ie English) audio track taken from other sources.
As an option – Telecine (TC, “roll”).
DVD-Screener (DVDScr, DVDScreener) (SCR)
Copy from the “promotional” DVD (critics disc, promotional version or beta). The quality is like DVDRip, but the picture is usually “spoiled” with watermarks, warning labels and black and white inserts (“dropping color”).
SCREENER (SCR) or VHS-SCREENER (VHSScr)
The same as DVDScr, only from a video cassette. Copy from “promotional” VHS (critics tape, promotional version or beta). The picture quality is comparable to a very good VHS, but the picture is usually “spoiled” by watermarks, warning labels and black and white inserts (“color dropout”). The sound is not bad, usually stereo or Dolby Surround.
PDTV-Rip (PDTVRip)
Pure Digital Television Rip – rip from “pure” digital television. The designation shows that there was no conversion from an analog signal to digital during encoding. Under the general designation PDTV-Rip, SAT-Rip, DVB-RIP, IPTV-RIP can be hidden. The source can be a satellite channel (DVB-S), unencrypted DVB-T digital terrestrial broadcast, sometimes IPTV and other digital broadcast channel that does not use (or successfully bypasses) special methods that prevent direct recording of the digital stream. Most often there is a channel logo.
TV-Rip (TVRip)
The material was recorded from a television signal, usually cable (but also come across from a simple antenna). Almost all television series are distributed primarily in this or SATRip format. The quality depends on the hardware, software and skill of the ripper.
Transport Stream
Raw (raw) audio-video stream taken directly from digital television.
SAT-Rip (SATRip)
Similar to TVRip. The material was recorded from satellite video (as a rule, this is digital MPEG2 video). The quality depends on the provider, the channel and the quality of the rip. Usually such Rip is only slightly inferior to DVDRip (although there are exceptions). Most often there is a channel logo.
DSRip
Same as SAT-Rip (SATRip).
IPTV-Rip (IPTVRip)
Similar to SATRip. The material was recorded from digital IP-TV (usually it is digital MPEG2 or MPEG4 video). Usually such a rip is only slightly inferior to DVDRip. Most often there is a channel logo. Appeared relatively recently.
WEB-DL and WEB-DL 720p
Rips received from broadcasts over the Internet from the iTunes Store. The main feature is higher quality (along with BDRips), no TV channel logos and end credits.
iTunes Digital Copy
Video obtained from the Apple Online Store using the code on the packaging of a licensed DVD or BD, or located directly on the disc.
DVB-Rip (DVBRip, DVB-T Rip)
Similar to SATRip. The material was recorded from terrestrial digital broadcasting (usually digital MPEG2 video, occasionally MPEG4). The quality depends on the provider, the channel and the quality of the rip. Usually such Rip is only slightly inferior to DVDRip (although there are exceptions). Most often there is a channel logo.
HDTV-Rip (HDTVRip)
Rip from an HDTV movie (1920×1080, 1280×720), which is often done at the resolution of a regular (non-HDTV) rip (sometimes at the original resolution). The quality is often better than DVDRip. Under the general name HDTV-Rip, there are rips from BD-Rip, HDDVD-Rip, digital satellite and cable operators broadcasting in HDTV. Descriptions often include 720p, 1080p, 1080i, 1280p (see below.)
BD-Rip (BDRip, BRRip, BR-Rip)
Rip from Blu-Ray DVD disc (from 25 GB per layer). Refers to HDTV. Real BDRip movies have much better quality than DVDRip. File size – File size – from 2 to 9.5 GB. Often, the size of the picture is also indicated immediately in the designation. For example, BDRip.720p BDRip.1080p. Sometimes there are DVD rips with enlarged picture and incorrect BDRip designation.
HD-DVD-Rip (HDDVDRip, HDDVD-Rip, HDDVD)
Rip from HD DVD (from 15 GB per layer). Refers to HDTV. Due to the actual loss of HD-DVD in the Blu-Ray VS HD-DVD format war, the number of such rips will be negligible.
HDDVD Remux
Repackaged original HDDVD streams without menus into a container, usually TS or MKV.
The video is identical to the original. No loss in quality.
BluRay-Remux
Repackaged streams of an original BlyRay disc without a menu into a container, usually TS or MKV.
The video is identical to the original. No loss in quality.
Laserdisc-RIP (LDRip)
Similar to DVDRip. This version is made from Laserdisc. It is quite rare, mostly old films.
VHS-Rip (VHSRip)
The source of the material is a VHS cassette, usually of fairly average quality.
DTheater-Rip
High definition cassette digitization. The video quality is quite high. There may be noise and blurry pictures.
AVC (Advanced Video Coding)
A licensed video compression standard (H.264 aka MPEG-4 Part 10) designed to achieve a high degree of video stream compression while maintaining high quality.
720p, 1080p, 1080i, 1280p, etc. – designations are found in HDTV movies and rips.
Digit – vertical resolution of the image with an aspect ratio of 16:9. For example – 720p – 1280×720
i (interlaced scan) – interlaced scanning, the image is formed from two half-frames (as in conventional television). This reduces the flow (hence the file size), but in motion you can see the so-called. “comb effect” on the border of flowers. Frequency 50 or 60 fields per second
p (progressive scan) – progressive scan, the frame is transmitted and formed as a whole, while the picture in motion is not distorted. The disadvantage of progressive is the doubled flow compared to interlaced. The result is a larger file size or a lower frame rate.
Fullscreen (FS)
Release in full screen mode, video resolution 3:4. Often Fullscreen is made from the Widescreen version using the Pan and Scan (PS) method, cutting off part of the frame on the sides.
Widescreen (WS)
One of the original options for recording widescreen video on DVD (the other is Letterbox) is anamorphic (the image, usually 16:9, is stretched to fit the entire 4:3 frame – resulting in better quality).
Letterbox
One of the original options for recording widescreen video on DVD (the other is Widescreen (WS)) – the image, usually 16:9, is not stretched to the entire frame, but black bars are left at the top and bottom.
Pan and Scan (PS)
Method for converting widescreen (WS) video to fullscreen (FS) video. This cuts off part of the frame on the right and left.
WATERMARKED
Small logos of the TV channel or releaser.
Director’s Cut (DC)
A director’s cut is a special edition of a film that represents the film from the point of view of the director, and not edited according to the requirements of customers, distributors, studios, film critics, etc.
Workprint (WP)
This is the so-called “Beta version” of the film. Particularly interesting for connoisseurs of films. Usually released in VCD format much earlier than the start of the show in cinemas around the world. Due to the fact that this is a pre-release film, the quality of the material can be either excellent or very poor. Often there may be some scenes, computer special effects. However, there may also be scenes in the Workprint that will be cut in the final version. You can recognize such versions by the timer at the top or bottom of the screen (it is needed for the subsequent editing of the final version).
LIMITED
The film was shown in a limited number of theaters. Usually no more than 250-500.
Special Edition (SE)
Special version of the film. A striking example is the restored version of “Star Wars” with the addition of computer graphics, animation, 3D models to the material of the 70s.
Straight To Video (STV)
The film was immediately released on DVD / cassette, bypassing cinemas. Quality – respectively DVDrip or VHSrip.
DUPE
Second release of the same film by another release group (usually stolen from the first)
PROPER
Re-release of the film (sometimes by a different group) due to the poor quality of the previous one.
RECODE
Release converted to another format or recoded
RERIP
New movie rip
Dubbed
The original audio has been removed from the film. For example, they took a track from a Russian cinema and put it on an American release.
Mic.Dubbed
The same as Dubbed, only the sound was recorded by a microphone in a movie theater.
Line.Dubbed
Same as Dubbed, only in this case the sound was taken from the “armchair” or “projector” (Line).
D – dubbed (dubbed)
L1 – amateur one-voiced translation
L2 – amateur two-voiced translation
L – amateur polyphonic translation
O – original (in Russian films)
P1 – professional one-voiced translation (often author’s)
P2 – professional two-voiced translation
P – professional multi-voiced translation
Worth it notice that the letter P in the title of the film can also denote a professional two-voice translation, as well as L – an amateur two-voice, since many of the band’s releases do not divide the translation into polyphonic and two-voiced.
Alternative
AVO – (Author Voice Over) – Author’s
SVO (1VO) – (Single Voice Over) – Single Voice
DVO (2VO) – (Double Voice Over) – Two-voice )
MVO – (Multi Voice Over) – Multi-voice (three or more)
DUB – (Dublicated) – Dubbing
SUB – (Subtitle) – Subtitles
Double translated translation (Dubbing) is when in the film, the actors speak a language that you understand, and when the original language is absolutely not audible, while all other sounds must be preserved and lipsing (lipsync – lip synchronization) must be preserved, i.e. the viewer should have the impression that the actor speaks the native language of the viewer.
Full dubbing of a film is a technically complex process and is considered “top-class” in film dubbing. It is carried out by professionals at film studios. In order to dub a film, all recorded sounds and voices must be separated in order to replace the voices, then mix the overall sound.
Multi-voiced voice-over (can be professional or amateur) is when the original speech of the film is muted (at the same time, other sounds are muted a little) and the voices of several actors (professional) or non-actors (amateur) are superimposed on top, but the original soundtrack is all still a little audible.
Two-voice voice-over – voice-over, but unlike polyphony – the film is translated by two understudies, a man and a woman.
One-voice voice-over – translation where all the actors are voiced by the same understudy (usually a man). Such translations are especially familiar to all movie lovers on videocassettes of the 80s and 90s. Sample voices of translators.
Simultaneous translation is the interpretation of the speaker’s speech with a delay of 2-3 seconds,
Of the monophonic translations, he distinguished himself – Dmitry Puchkov, aka “Goblin”. At the same time, two directions of translations “God’s spark” and “Full Pe” are distinguished.
