INTRODUCTION:
Logitech G403 Hero
This is a simple gaming mouse with six programmable buttons and a hero sensor. It’s a refreshed model with some changes. There are some good features and for this cheap price, this mouse is considered a great package.
Logitech G502 Hero
We all know that Logitech G502 is one of the famous gaming mice which is available currently in the market. In my opinion, Logitech G502 is one of the best gaming mouse available currently in the market. A lot of people from the gaming and tech community definitely agree that this is one of the best gaming mice available at the moment.
DESIGN & COMFORT:
Logitech G403 Hero
It’s ergonomically designed the shape and everything. When you place your hand, it fits perfectly just as it should. This is the same shape as the old G403. As for the part where you could add more weights to the mouse, you just pop round-shaped weight, this is 10 grams weight so you can just place it inside and the magnet close it back in. If you want to have your mouse heavy, this is an option for you.
As for the grip and everything, it does a bit kind of feel strange when changing from a symmetrical mouse to an ergonomic Mouse but it does have a nice feel, especially with the G403. It does get a bit better response time. To be honest, this one has a much better movement. You have the kind of rubber sides, so you get a better grip while holding the mouse or while gaming.
Logitech G502 Hero
The mouse looks really great and the mouse comes with a 7 feet long braided cable. This cable is slightly thinner when compared with the previous generation 402 and I really liked it. It bends easily and doesn’t slow the mouse, it’s very quick and fast. It is very easier to manage when you are doing the cable alignment.
It has the rubber material with a triangular type of mesh texture for the grip on both sides and definitely, you won’t face any issues with this grip. This even has the texture seem kind of a triangular structure at the bottom of this Mouse The shape of this mouse is kind of suitable for the hybrid grip. It is taller but still shorter than the G402 Logitech mouse.
FEATURES & PERFORMANCE:
Logitech G403 Hero
There is a Hero sensor in this Logitech G403 Hero mouse. The Hero stands for the new optical sensor from Logitech with 16K DPI resolution. Now, this is a refreshed model with the new optical sensor. I think this is the intelligent RGB lights on the mouse that synchronize with your gaming environment and everything that goes on your screen. Then, you have an ergonomic design of the mouse. You also have a unique way to manage your buttons with the new Logitech software.
It has two buttons on the left side, you have left and right-click, you don’t have on the scroll left and right click but you just have the middle click and of course, the scroll option and you have the middle DPI switch button as well. On the bottom, you have two large mats for easy moving on the surface and you have one around the optical sensor. Your optical sensor is practically the same in all Logitech’s gaming mice that they added the title.
The RGB appears on the Logitech G logo right here and on the middle line of the scroll wheel. It’s very easy to change the DPI resolution of the mouse, you can only change it by incrementing DPI by a certain level as you decide and as you fixate or as you adjust your settings in the Logitech software.
The USB cable given here is pretty long and it’s braided. When you take into consideration that rubber cables and braided cables, rubber cables are basically more for the FPS and everything but this braided cable is really nice in terms of flexibility, it doesn’t get stuck. It goes very nicely and very easily.
Logitech G502 Hero
Logitech has relaunched this very famous G502 gaming mouse with the upgraded sensor which is 16,000 DPI and they’re calling it Logitech G502 Hero. Logitech has upgraded from their previous sensor PWM 3366 optical sensor to a new Hero sensor which has 16,000 DPI already. The previous version is one of the best in the market and this new version hero sensor is better.
The buttons are laid out very nicely on this device. Both the right and left mouse buttons are very clicky and it has the Omron switches which are rated for 50 million clicks. So, the previous version of the Proteus spectrum had 20 million clicks and this one has 50 million clicks, this is a really good upgrade. The extra buttons given on this Gaming Mouse is really accessible. So, on the left side, there is a large button for sniping which will decrease the DPI by default. So with the help of this, we can take those high precision shots. There are two other buttons on the left-hand side which are very easily accessible by the thumb and also there are two other buttons at the front which are accessible through your index finger. On the top, you have a profile switching button which is very useful to change your profiles or you can be used for your DPI intensity change.
This mouse has got a total of 11 programmable buttons which can be used as per your gaming requirement. The scrolling wheel also tilts towards the left and right and also it can be customizable to act as the individual buttons.
For the lighting, we have the DPI indicator and of course, the Logitech logo both have the RGB lighting to it and you can set any of the RGB colors on which depends on your mood and requirement. Also, it has a breathing effect in which you can control the speed and the intensity of this mouse. Now, you have the ability to adjust the weight of this mouse with the help of metal weights. In my opinion, these extra weights are no use because this mouse is already quite heavy with 121 grams and there is no need to add any weight and most of them use this mouse without adding extra weights to it.
One of the main features of this mouse is the scroll wheel. The scroll wheel is made of a metal that won’t let you switch to any other Mouse once you use this which is a switchable scrolling mechanism in which Logitech has implemented it. You have a button behind the scrolling wheel which will allow you to switch the modes which let you switch between a step scrolling mode for the gaming and the second one is a free-scrolling mode which is great for most of the work we do on PC. Actually, I really like the free-scrolling mode, it’s really helpful when you have a long timeline to scroll or an excel document or editing large videos and also the web scrolling.
SOFTWARE:
Logitech G403 Hero
There is a free software called G HUB for the customizations and settings of the mouse. All the buttons on the mouse and everything can be customized as per your convenience. You can change the buttons as the keyboard shortcuts or anything from the given options. You can also change the RGB lighting of the mouse and the speed of the lighting and brightness and effect. Also, you can change many other features like DPI setting, polling rate setting, scroll speed, etc,. All the settings will be saved in your mouse, so you don’t have to change each and every setting all the time. If you have any other products of Logitech, you can also customize that from this software.
Logitech G502 Hero
In the software, you can change each and every button on this mouse to perform as an individual button. You can customize the buttons from the given options and you have a total of 11 buttons on the mouse and all are customizable. Also, you can change the RGB lighting of the mouse and you can set whatever effect you want. The DPI, speed of the scroll wheel, and many more things can be customized as per your choice and requirement. Also, the Logitech software is very simple to use, so there is no need of any guide and help for using it.
WHICH TO BUY?
Both the G403 Hero and G502 Hero works well, the performance, design, comfort, and everything is nice. The Logitech G403 Hero costs around $50 and surprisingly the G502 Hero costs around $40 which has more features and functions than the G403 Hero mouse. So, in my opinion, the G502 Hero mouse is better to buy.

Initially, it was just a G502 Proteus Core model with a single-color backlight, then it was renamed the G502 Proteus Spectrum and added RGB backlighting with a few minor changes (concerning, in particular, work on user feedback, thanks to which a more flexible cable appeared in it), and this one once done everything at once. And they listened to the users, and put the most perfect filling. To clarify a couple of details: this mouse is unique in nature, and it will be very difficult to find an alternative to it. This is the first. Secondly, with the installation of a new sensor, the need to support the old model has disappeared, so the novelty will soon outlive its predecessor from the market, becoming the only current model. So if you are looking for a multi-button novelty, then the Logitech G502 HERO looks now as attractive as possible.
And it really has a lot of buttons! As many as 11 pieces fall at the disposal of the user, one has only to pull the mouse out of the box. The most important advantage is that, gradually improving the technical parameters of the mouse, its basis remained unshakable: the shape was not touched, the materials were also preserved, recognizable features were preserved and, in general, its design was left without any noticeable changes. Maybe somewhere the tone and shade of the materials have, of course, changed, but even remembering past models, this is quite difficult to track. Therefore, Logitech has not parted with the futuristic design of its mice for many years now, and in this case, the geometry and fragmentation of the device looks like an elegant visual solution. Only the logo on the back has changed – now it corresponds to the current corporate identity.
On the one hand, this is good. But on the other hand, the practicality of the device went under the knife. Dust and dirt collect all these charms simply at a breathtaking speed. In fact, if you look at practicality from the point of view of tenacity, then everything is not bad here: rubber pads with a textured surface, matte tenacious plastic on the back of the mouse and on the main buttons, however . .. When it comes to a bunch of small glossy inserts that are dotted with the whole mouse is literally from top to bottom, it’s better not to remember practicality.
And here the only thing that pleases me is the preservation of the previous functionality of the mouse. In particular – a chip with an inertial wheel that rotates at a frantic speed and is simply created for scrolling through pages or scrolling through news on social networks. Controversial decisions have also been preserved – for example, the sniper button on the left sidebar, which, on the one hand, is convenient because it is located near the thumb, but due to the not very large size of the mouse, it can easily fall under the distribution, and then a false actuation. Alas, my thumb, with an average palm size (18.5 cm), was constantly poking this button, and I can’t say that this always happened on purpose. As well as a solution with the preservation of the compartment for weights.
This, and the no-wireless solution, just boggles my mind. On the one hand, I understand that the transition of the G502 model to a more advanced sensor is a great opportunity to keep the device in service with the most up-to-date stuffing, but some anachronistic solutions should be a thing of the past. Not only does the Logitech G502 HERO mouse itself weigh 121 grams – which is a lot by today’s standards – but with an energy-saving sensor, the mouse has no wireless technology at all. It would seem that it was possible to abandon the compartment with weights, and to place a small-capacity battery in the saved space, which would ideally fit in conjunction with the HERO sensor, and thus the mouse would receive remarkable autonomy in the region of a week, but … Instead, we observe a pack with weights, which allows you to increase the weight of the mouse by 18 grams. So the prioritization in terms of the need for certain features in the case of the G502 is not entirely clear to me. It is clear that the G502 is not an eSports mouse, but still, no one canceled the wireless amenities.
Moreover, some people directly declare that they love Logitech and take this particular mouse for convenient work on a PC.
Anyway, the Logitech G502 cable has long been legendary: it has always been a thick and clumsy sausage. In the case of the G502 HERO, the situation has changed markedly for the better, but I would gladly sacrifice the weights and part with the wire in order to get a wireless model that is not burdened by such a cable. Like many of us, presumably. The cable for the Logitech G502 HERO mouse has lost a bit of weight and acquired lightness and softness, which is very important for any wired mouse, but still it is far from the same weightless cables manufactured by Razer. Another controversial decision is the presence of a huge number of scattered Teflon glides, some of which are almost hexagonal in shape, which makes it very difficult to find a similar set if it needs to be replaced. But here the excellent Logitech service comes to the rescue, which will always help you figure it out with the mouse, and send a set of new glide by mail. This, by the way, is one of the reasons why there is nothing else in the complete boxes: only a mouse and pieces of paper. And everything else can always be obtained through the warranty department, and in this kind of service from Logitech is close to ideal.
However, behind all these nuances, you forget about the main thing – the form. And the shape of the mouse is simply excellent. Designed as a spoof of symmetry with a slim waist and ergonomic button layout, it’s the perfect tool for almost any hand. Quite elongated, not too tall, not too sloping and almost not humpbacked, it will fit almost any palm, but it is most convenient to hold the mouse with a palm-claw or palm-finger grip. A full-fledged palm grip is impossible here due to the narrowness of the shape and due to the presence of a sniper button, and a finger grip will be hampered by a very noticeable mass of the device. Not to say that this mouse has grip limitations, just with its versatility, it has its own nuances that you should pay attention to so as not to experience discomfort later.
Much more noticeable changes have been made to the filling. And now we are not only talking about the HERO optical sensor, which provides a fabulous resolution from 100 to 16,000 dpi with the ability to adjust the dpi step to 50. And not about its sky-high technical parameters, where the speed is 400 ips, and acceleration is 40 g. No. Here, even the buttons feel differently – Logitech has always been very good in this area. But in this model, they put Omron switches for 50 million clicks, which is why the mouse turned out to be extremely reliable, and the main buttons are pressed easily, briefly and clearly. The wheel, as it was, remains flawless, and it is built on an indestructible optical encoder. In inertial scrolling mode, it, of course, does not make any sounds, and in the mode with fixed cutoffs when scrolling, it pretty cracks when scrolling. But the step-by-step cutoffs of the wheel are very soft, tangible and accurate. And, by the way, unlike similar models (like the same G Pro Wireless), the wheel was not made hollow to lighten the device – everything has remained unchanged since the very first version of this mouse.
The software has not changed either. The user now has the Logitech G Hub, which we already reviewed in the Logitech G Pro Wireless review, but, in my opinion, it is still damp, as there are various technical oversights that do not allow using the software without problems. So Logitech Gaming Software comes to the rescue, as this software is still in service, and it has everything you need to set up a mouse. The mouse supports storing three profiles in its memory, so you can write whatever your heart desires to it, and use these functions even away from a PC with installed software. The range of features of LGS has always pleased and did not shine with unnecessary frills, and therefore here you can reassign all the keys, fine-tune the sensor sensitivity levels, play around with the backlight, and also track the number of clicks on a particular button. It is worth remembering that this function requires constant launch, so as a permanent and uninterrupted tool for collecting statistics, it obviously will not work.
What I like the most about the Logitech G502 HERO is its compact and folded shape, which allows for a good grip on the palm, allowing headshots left and right. My main problem was the sniper button – I had to bend my thumb all the time so as not to inadvertently press it. And then I just turned off this button and did not know the problems. The HERO sensor is exceptionally good: excellent accuracy, ultra-fast response to the slightest movement and the absence of any interference or incorrigible errors make this sensor one of the best on the market. The only pity is that in the presence of energy efficiency, this quality is not used in any way.
And everything else is not so significant, but I would like to note something. Firstly, the cable – it really stopped dragging the mouse along, and this is a small progress. Secondly, mass. Say what you like, but the mouse does not pretend to be an esports weapon, and despite the fact that it is perfect for games of absolutely any genre, it is unlikely to be able to prove itself as well in the esports field as, say, some model like the G403 or G Pro Wireless. The presence of a bunch of buttons (the same sniper button), a cable and a large mass – some of this can become an obstacle on the way to the coveted headshot. And it will happen, as you might guess, at the most inopportune moment. Therefore, it is rather a universal solution, so that you can unleash the capabilities of the mouse to the maximum in any programs, and play without any restrictions.
The Logitech G502 HERO is a natural update to the company’s multi-button and very popular model, which has acquired the most advanced optical sensor of its own production, and in terms of reliability, the mouse gained confidence by installing new and durable Omron switches. The price of this model has not changed much compared to previous brothers, so if you are looking for a multi-button mouse (for work or for games in the MOBA genre), then the Logitech G502 will suit you perfectly. This is a great example of an excellent minor update, where a form that has been proven over the years was simply brought to mind, equipping it with the most up-to-date hardware.
