4 Ways You Can Get Apple Music for Free
Who doesn’t love freebies? Not to mention when it comes to streaming services, which can be a bit pricey for a nice-to-have if we’re being honest. That’s why anyone would take the opportunity to use any streaming service for free, albeit for a short while. Fortunately, that’s possible with Apple Music.
At any time, companies in various industries offer Apple Music trials when you purchase their products or sign up for their services. By now, you’re probably wondering how to get your hands on one of these deals. So, without wasting more time, here are all the free Apple Music offers and how to claim them.
1. Apple Music Free Trial
Apple Music is one of the top streaming services on the market. It gives you access to its library of more than 75 million songs. You can use features like downloads and Spatial Audio at no extra cost.
All of these benefits are available on Apple Music’s free trial. The trial is available to first-time subscribers and lasts for one month.
Is Apple Music free? No. That means you save at least $4.99 through this deal, depending on which Apple Music plan is best for you. To claim your free trial, you need to:
- Go to the Apple Music web page in your browser.
- Click the Try 1 month free button in the top-right corner or center of the screen.
- Follow the instructions to sign up and start streaming.
Keep in mind that Apple Music will start charging you after the one-month trial period is up. You can cancel your Apple Music subscription before then if you’re not ready to start paying. If you’re new to the platform, you should know you can also find and follow your friends on Apple Music.
2. Enjoy Apple Music for Free Through Apple One
If you’re an Apple fan, you probably already know what Apple One is. This subscription service bundles a bunch of apps into a single subscription. It’s a way to save money paying for the apps you love.
Here are the apps that are included in an Apple One subscription:
- Apple Music
- Apple TV+
- Apple Arcade
- iCloud+
- Apple News+
- Apple Fitness+.
But Apple One has another great benefit: A free one-month trial. And you know what that means—free Apple Music…
But there’s a catch.
Of the six Apple services included in Apple One, only the services you haven’t subscribed to will be offered free. So, you can only enjoy Apple Music for free through Apple One if it is your first time subscribing. The benefit is that you can also try Apple’s best subscription services.
Follow the steps below to claim your free trial.
- Go to the Apple One web page in your browser.
- Click the Try Apple One Free button at the center of the screen or in the top-right corner.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the sign-up process.
Just remember: Apple One automatically renews after your one-month trial period ends, so be sure to cancel before then if you just want to try Apple Music for free.
3. Get Apple Music for Free With Shazam
If one month isn’t enough, and you want to milk your free Apple Music trial a bit longer, try claiming Shazam’s Apple Music offer. It allows you to get a three-month Apple Music free trial.
This offer is only available through Shazam’s website. And like Apple’s free trial, you don’t have to buy anything to qualify—you just need to have the Shazam app on your mobile device.
Shazam offers multiple ways to identify music playing around you. From there, you can open and play it on the Shazam app. You can even listen to your Shazam tracks on your Apple Music, making it easy to discover new music, find new artists, and build your library.
Here’s how to claim Shazam’s free Apple Music trial:
- Go to the Shazam website in your browser.
- Scan the QR code on the page using your phone’s camera.

Moving on to longer Apple Music trials. They’re few and far between, but they do exist. You can get free Apple Music trials for up to six months with Apple’s help. However, they don’t come cheap.
One of the ways to get Apple Music for free is by purchasing certain Apple products in the Apple Store or online. And yes, you’ll have to fork out some coins for this one because Apple is not that generous. Here are the products you can buy to get this free trial:
- AirPods (2nd and 3rd generation).
- AirPods Pro (1st and 2nd generation).
- AirPods Max.
- Beats (Beats Studio Buds, Powerbeats, Powerbeats Pro, Beats Solo Pro, and Beats Fit Pro).
- HomePod mini.
- iPhone.
Here’s how to redeem your six-month Apple Music offer through your qualifying Apple audio devices. You must do this on your iPhone or iPad.
- Ensure you update your iPhone or iPad.
- Next, pair your audio device with your iPhone or iPad.
- Now open Apple Music on your device. You might have to sign in with your Apple ID if you previously signed out. Alternatively, go to the Apple Music redeem web page, scroll down, and click on Get Started.
- If you don’t immediately see the offer in Apple Music, look for it in Apple Music’s Listen Now tab.
- Tap Get 6 months free.
Have trouble pairing your AirPods? Don’t panic—here’s what to do when your AirPods don’t pair with your Apple devices. We know they’re not for everyone, but Apple also offers the best Beats headphones you can buy.
5. Take Advantage of Verizon Unlimited
Verizon is another one of the few options to get six months of Apple Music for free. Remember we said these longer trials don’t come cheap? This one doesn’t either. You must get a Verizon Unlimited plan to enjoy this offer.
Apple Music is either included indefinitely or for six months through Verizon plans. You can claim the offers even if you already have an Apple Music subscription.
At the time of writing, Verizon’s 5G Get More (Unlimited 5G Ultra Wideband) plan comes with a free, unlimited Apple Music subscription.
And these are the Verizon plans that come with a free, six-month Apple Music subscription:
- 5G Start (Unlimited 5G)
- 5G Do More (Unlimited 5G Ultra Wideband)
- 5G Play More (Unlimited 5G Ultra Wideband).
Please note that after the six-month period is up, you’ll have to pay $10.99/month for each line enrolled.
Unlike Apple’s six-month free trial, you can get more than just an extended free Apple Music subscription through Verizon. Here are more perks you can get through select Unlimited plans at Verizon:
- Either Apple Arcade or Google Play Pass
- Disney+
- ESPN+
- Hulu.
Are you ready to get six months of Apple Music through Verizon? Here’s what to do: if you already have an Unlimited plan, all you have to do is add Apple Music to your plan. If you’re on Verizon but don’t have an Unlimited plan, just change your plan. Finally, if you’re not a Verizon customer, make the switch so that you can claim your Apple Music offer.

Can you get the Shazam trial if you have previously had a trial?
Yes! The good news is that we were able to take advantage of the Shazam trial despite having previously had trials, and been a lapsed subscriber. In our case when a five-month Shazam trial was available we were able to qualify for a two-month trial instead.
Shazam has been owned by Apple for some time, which explains why it is a Apple Music subscription that is offered.
In the past we have been able to get five months free via Shazam, but that deal isn’t currently running.
How to get another Apple Music trial if you’ve already had one
As with the Shazam example above, you may find that you qualify for another two months, even if have previously had a longer trial. What if you have used up all your trial time though?
From time to time Apple offers lapsed subscribers the opportunity to get three months Apple Music for the price of one – so £10.99/$10.99 for three months.
Apple sometimes offers lapsed subscribers three months for the price of one.

Generally though, once you’ve used your three (or more) months trial, you won’t be able to get any more months free using the same method, even if you wait a year or so. But there is a trick to getting an extra three months: start using Family Sharing via another user and switch to the Apple Music Family Sharing plan.
If you’re happy to use Family Sharing, you could get another member of your family to sign up for the free trial of the Apple Music Family Sharing plan, and then share that with you. You’ll then be able to take advantage of an extra three months for free. In fact, it can be shared between up to six people so you could share the free trial with other family members too.
We have a separate article with more information about
Family Sharing and how to set it up.

2. Family plan . If your family members also want to stream songs from Apple Music, then the family plan might be your best bet. It only costs you $16.99 per month, but up to six people can access the Apple Music library.
3. Student Plan . Students enrolled in degree-granting universities and colleges can subscribe to Apple Music at $5.99 per month, half an individual plan. (We’ll talk about this later.)
