The ION Pathfinder 320 is a large party speaker with built-in RGB lights. With a loud sound and a thumping bass, it’s ideal for bringing up the energy at your next big event. Plus, it’s rated IPX5 for water resistance, so you can take it outside with you if you want. Through its companion app, you get access to lots of sound customization features, as well as radio capabilities, meaning you can save your favorite presets onto the speaker.

Our Verdict

6.7

Music

The ION Pathfinder 320 is alright for music. This party-oriented speaker has a boomy sound out of the box, so bass-heavy genres like EDM and hip-hop are somewhat lacking in clarity. That said, bass lovers can add more to the mix using the Boom button. Also, if you want a different sound, the graphic EQ in the companion app makes it easy to customize.

Pros

  • Gets loud.

  • Graphic EQ and presets.

  • Customizable RGB lights.

Cons

  • Downmixes stereo content into mono.

  • No multi-device pairing.

  • Some compression at max volume.

5.9

Videos/Movies

The ION Audio Pathfinder 320 isn’t meant for watching movies. However, if you want to check out a video on your paired smartphone, it can get the job done. Its boomy sound brings lots of rumble, especially in action-packed scenes. That said, latency is relatively high with iOS and Android devices, so you may notice some lip-synching issues.

Pros

  • Gets loud.

7.1

Podcasts

The ION Audio Pathfinder 320 is decent for podcasts. While it has a boomy sound out of the box, voices are still relatively clear in the mix, so you can follow along with your favorite shows. Plus, if you want a different sound, the graphic EQ in its companion app gives you the ability to customize its output. Its impressive Bluetooth range keeps to connected to your paired phone even from far away, too, and it’s more than loud enough to fill your space with sound.

Cons

  • No multi-device pairing.

  • Large and heavy design.

3.1

Voice Assistant

The ION Pathfinder 320 doesn’t support voice assistants.

6.4

Outdoors

The ION Pathfinder 320 is acceptable for outdoor use. Overall, this speaker has a sturdy and robust design, with an IPX5 rating for water resistance to help protect it against the elements. It gets loud enough to fill large and open spaces with sound, so it’s great for a backyard party. However, it’s on the larger and heavier side, and its built-in wheels aren’t ideal for traversing muddy or sandy areas.

Pros

  • Gets loud.

  • Graphic EQ and presets.

  • Built-in wheels and handles for easier transport.

Cons

  • Downmixes stereo content into mono.

  • No multi-device pairing.

  • Large and heavy design.

Differences Between Sizes And Variants

The ION Pathfinder 320 is available in Black/Red. You can see the label for the model we tested here.

If you come across another version of this speaker, let us know in the discussions, and we’ll update our review.

Compared To Other Speakers

The ION Pathfinder 320 is a relatively budget-friendly party speaker with customizable RGB lights and a built-in bottle opener. With its built-in handles, it’s easy to bring the party on the go, too. For the price, it comes with lots of customization features, like a graphic EQ. However, unlike other party speakers, there aren’t microphone or guitar inputs on hand for musicians.

The JBL PartyBox 310 is a better party speaker than the ION Pathfinder 320. The JBL is larger, but since both speakers come with built-in handles, they’re pretty easy to transport. Still, the JBL stands out because it can reproduce a more extended low-bass, and it gets louder, too. It also comes with microphone and guitar inputs, unlike the ION. That said, its battery doesn’t last quite as long as the ION.

Searching

Finding Store

The ION Pathfinder 320 and the ION Pathfinder 280 are both pretty similar party speakers with access to graphic EQs and other customization features through the ION Sound XP app. The 320 can reproduce a more extended low-bass, making it more suitable for genres with lots of bass mixed in, such as EDM and hip-hop. It also has a longer battery life. However, it doesn’t get quite as loud as the 280.

Searching

Depending on your listening habits, you may prefer either the JBL PartyBox 100 or the ION Pathfinder 320. They’re both relatively budget-friendly party speakers, but they offer different features. The JBL gets louder, and it has guitar and microphone inputs for karaoke. However, only the ION has a graphic EQ and presets to help you customize its sound across the range, and its battery life lasts much longer.

Searching

Finding Store

The Monster Rockin’ Roller 270X and the ION Pathfinder 320 are both party speakers with similar overall performances. The ION’s battery lasts longer and comes with a full graphic EQ for sound customization, compared to the Monster’s bass and treble adjustments. However, only the Monster has microphone and guitar inputs for karaoke fans.

Searching

Finding Store

Depending on your listening habits, you may prefer either the ION Pathfinder 320 or the JBL PartyBox Encore Essential. They’re both party-oriented speakers, and you can find graphic EQ in their respective companion apps to customize their sound. However, the JBL comes with microphone and guitar inputs for karaoke, unlike the ION. It’s also able to reproduce a more extended low-bass. However, the ION’s battery life lasts much longer.

The ION Pathfinder 320 is a large party speaker. It has a square shape with a handlebar located on top to help you transport it, as well as a telescopic wand that lets you move the speaker like carry-on luggage. Plus, there’s a bottle opener on the side for your next party, and there are RGB lights on the sides of the speaker and around the control panel. You can adjust the color of the lights or turn them off entirely through the app.

Since it’s battery-powered, you can bring this speaker with you on the go. It’s on the larger and heavier side, though. There’s even an additional telescopic handle on the back to pull the speaker along using the wheels underneath.

Overall, this speaker has a decent build quality. It’s mostly made of thick plastic, which feels quite solid and robust, and there are metal grilles to protect the drivers inside. The wheels seem solid, too. While the speaker isn’t rated for impact resistance, the IPX5 rating for water resistance means that it’s protected against low-pressure water streams.

The control panel on the front of the speaker has a series of rubberized buttons that are really easy to use. It has more traditional controls to play/pause your audio and adjust the volume, as well as some tools to control the speaker’s sound. You can press the EQ button and turn the control knob to increase or decrease the selected frequency. The Light Mode lets you adjust the RGB lights, and the Link button lets you stereo pair with a compatible speaker. Plus, you can set radio presets and pair and disconnect to devices over Bluetooth.

There’s also some audible feedback to help you keep track of the settings as you adjust them. The display above the controls shows the volume level as you adjust it, for example, as well as the battery level. The speaker lets you know when it’s powered on as well as when you’ve successfully connected or disconnected to a paired device. When you press the BOOM button to enhance the speaker’s bass, it makes a distinct sound, too.

This speaker has fair frequency response accuracy. Out of the box, it has a boomy sound overall, with lots of extra emphasis in the bass range to bring genres like EDM and hip-hop to life. However, the dip in the mids means that voices and lead instruments are lacking detail. Notably, it brings more low-bass than the ION Pathfinder 280, so you notice a little more thump and rumble in the bass. If you want to add more bass to the mix, there’s a Boom feature available, as well as a full graphic EQ in the app to switch up its performance across the range.

This speaker’s soundstage performance is acceptable. It has to downmix stereo content into mono to play it, so you have to pair it with a second unit to get stereo sound. Its directivity is good, though, so its soundstage is perceived as wider and more open.

This speaker lasts well over the advertised 100 hours of play time off of a single charge, so you can enjoy multiple listening sessions without having to worry about a recharge. Ion Pathfinder 320 Review. Is It A Better Upgrade to the Ion pathfinder 280?

As I was perusing through Costco, I discovered the Ion Pathfinder 320. Having had the ion pathfinder 280 before, I wondered if this was the upgrade I’ve been looking for. Would ion finally make a speaker that would be in sync with my projector? Below is my Ion Pathfinder 320 review.

The Ion Pathfinder 320 Bluetooth speaker is an upgrade to the ion pathfinder 280. With the upgrade also comes the upgraded price. The speaker cost twice as much as the Ion 280 at Costco.

Just like the 280, the ion 320 can easily connect to any Bluetooth-enabled device.

My Ion Pathfinder 320 Review

Why I like it:  The ion pathfinder 320 is just as loud, durable, and has a clear sound as the old ion 280. The Battery lasts as long as up to 100 hours. Unlike the ion pathfinder 280. The 320 syncs to each other flawlessly with no mishaps.

Key Features:

  • 200 Watts & Up to 100-Hour Battery Life
  • It’s rated IPX5 Water-Resistant, so you can use it outdoor.
  • You can download the Ion App to control the Audio & Lighting Effects on your smartphone.
  • It has a Built-In Bottle Opener. I’ve never used this; nice to have if you ever need it.
  • It has 320 Degree Wide Range Sound from 5 speakers.
  • Can sync two Ion pathfinder 320 speakers together for a stereo sound that works well.

Pros and Cons

Pros

+ Battery Last up to 100 hours.
+ Has a built-in easy-grab handle to pick it up and move it around quickly.
+ Has built-in wheels and pull-out handle for easy portability.
+ Has 5 Speakers (8″ woofer, two 1″ tweeters, two 3″ drivers). Sounds amazing!
+ Has Lighting effects that pulse differently depending on the music
+ Has a bottle opener that you may or may not use.
+ Has a small water-resistant storage area for your phone keys or wallets.
+ Inside the water-resistant storage area, they included an aux and USB port so you can hook up your devices and leave them in the storage area.
+ It has two built-in USB charge ports and can charge your phone or other mobile devices inside or outside the storage area.
+ It has a “BOOM” button that can crank up the bass and volume when pressed.
+ It has a “stereo-link” button so you can easily connect 2 Ion Pathfinder speakers. Links flawlessly, no echo.
+ It has an “FM” button to listen to the radio
+ It has 16 built-in preset buttons to save your favorite radio station. There are only eight buttons available by pressing the radio button. You’ll get FM1 and FM2 giving you a total of 16 preset buttons.

Cons

It’s a little Bulky and Heavy weighing in at 22.7 lbs.
The ion pathfinder 320 cannot connect a microphone to the speaker as it does not have a mic input, so there is no Karaoke
When using it with a projector, the voice doesn’t sync up with the characters talking (lip-sync issue). If ion can fix this issue, they would be a perfect Bluetooth speaker for the price.

My Experience With The Built-In FM Radio.

The radio works excellent, with no static. It has eight presets so that you can save your favorite stations. If you press radio again, it will take you to FM2, where you can save another eight preset stations giving you 16 preset stations you can save.

If you are using this to listen to music, I highly suggest getting a 2nd Ion Pathfinder 320 for the “stereo” sound. It’s fantastic you won’t regret it. Syncing with a 2nd Ion Pathfinder 320 is very easy as all you have to do is press the “stereo-link” button on both speakers, and that’s it.

My Experience With Connecting To Echo dot or other smart devices To Play Music

Very easy to connect to another Bluetooth device as the Ion Pathfinder 320 speaker has a “Bluetooth” button.

Once connected to the echo dot, you can tell Alexa to “connect speaker” or “disconnect speaker” easily.

I use echo dot to play music through the ion 320 daily.

My Experience With Connecting To A Projector.

Connecting the projector to the ion 320 through a Bluetooth transmitter was easy.

Here’s where the problem arises. Lip-sync issues. If you’re watching cartoons, lip-sync issue is not a problem as you can hardly tell. Where the problem comes into play is when your watch live shows. The voice will not sync up to the character’s lips on screen. You’ll feel like your watching a foreign movie dubbed into english.

If you are looking for a quality Bluetooth speaker that will work flawlessly with projectors, look at my recommended speakers for projectors.

Frequently Ask Questions (FAQs)

Are ion pathfinder 320 speakers worth the upgrade from the ion pathfinder 280 speakers?

The ion pathfinder 320 is an excellent upgrade to the 280 speakers even though it is more expensive. You’re getting improvements with more speakers, more watts, and a more compact design. Also, the 320 works flawlessly when hooked up to a 2nd 320 speaker, Whereas the 280 doesn’t work as well and has echoes when hooked up to a 2nd 280.

The ION pathfinder 320is extremely loud. You can use this speaker for a house party or backyard parties. I recommend getting a 2nd to sync both speakers together for more sound. The music isn’t degraded as you increase the volume.

Can You Connect A Microphone To Ion Pathfinder 320?

You can connect a microphone to this speaker. The speaker does not have a Mic Input.

Can ion Pathfinder 320 do karaoke?

The ion pathfinder 320 does not have a microphone input. No microphone input means no Karaoke.

If you’re looking for an Ion speaker with a Mic input so you can play karaoke, you’ll need to look at these two Ion speakers:

How many ion Pathfinder 320 can you Link together?

You can link up to 2 for stereo sound.

How do I connect two ion Pathfinder 320 speakers?

All you need to do is press the “stereo-link” button on each speaker, and they will automatically link up.

How long does it take to charge the ion Pathfinder 320?

It will take up to 10 hours to charge.

Where are ion speakers made?

The ion pathfinder 320 speakers are made in China.

Conclusion

All in all, this speaker is still a bargain for what you get. The sound is excellent, and with 100 hours of playtime, you rarely need to charge it during a party.

I highly recommend buying two if you are planning on getting one. Sync them together, and you won’t be disappointed.

The Ion pathfinder 320 is great if you only use it for music.

That being said, I don’t recommend if you are planning to use this ion pathfinder 320 Bluetooth speaker for movie projectors as they don’t sync up with the mouth of the character talking.

Adventure Collection – Pathfinder. Holiday of the Sun

June 25 — July 9, 2017

The Pathfinder series of programs is about how to be a real Indian, to live in peace and harmony with yourself and with nature, to see and understand your own capabilities and the capabilities of other people, respect them, be able to build your tribe.

In Pathfinder 1, the “holiday of the Sun” is the key idea – to understand if I can be an Indian, who is an Indian, what is a tribe, what laws my tribe lives by, my place in this tribe. What is a feat, and what feat can I accomplish? As well as the ability to create your own weapon, choose a name, pass your test.

Shift leader: Sergey Mizulin 8-909-256-49-94, program developer Olga Novozhilova 8-916-113-99-20

News from the program:

Some fresh news photo of trackers:

July 8th. We packed up our camp and set off towards the bathhouse in order to catch a train to Moscow in the evening. Meet us tomorrow morning!

June 07:

It stopped raining! We built a real city, not a village, as before. The sun came out – apparently this is a sign that the spirits are favorable to our tribe. Passed the Song of Arrows and the Circle of the Sun, in which there were many worthy challenges in both kunoshinogars and knives. A festive dinner is being prepared. And yet, the time of gifts will come soon. And at the evening Grand Council, the tribe should find a long-awaited name.

Sun Festival – to be!

July 5th:

Today began with rain and most of the day we were gathering firewood and adjusting the parking lot for such weather conditions. The rain is not heavy, but for a long time. We dry things on all our hearths.

July 4:

Today we played the Big Outpost game. During the game, the Forest tribe (Mother-of-Pearl Crane, Rushing River, Soaring Raven and Forest Dweller) distinguished itself, having developed an interesting tactic. However, they failed to win. Today was sunny and warm, everything is fine with us.

July 3:

We made the transition from Berezovaya Griva to Kamenki. Yesterday at about 7 pm we successfully crossed the ford. Now we are in the farthest part of the National Park, the connection is very poor. Today at about 5 pm we will go to an area where there will be a good connection and tell the details.

Everything is in order with us, everyone is cheerful and healthy. The weather is variable – the sun is shining, sometimes it drizzles a little rain.

Evening News:

We have arrived at Conan-Er Lake. This is our final stop. The sun shone for us all day, the mood is good. During the transition, the tribe grew stronger and grew, let’s see what happens next.

July 2:

We continue our journey, the tribe grows stronger. Today, before leaving, we had a challenge circle. The rain accompanied us all the way.
In the afternoon we crossed the Ilet to the ford and immediately after we crossed the sun came out. For the third day of the transition, our tribe is fed by the tireless Coming with the Moon (Andrievskaya Maria) and the Soaring Hawk.
Tomorrow will be the final crossing to the shores of Lake Konan-Er

July 1:

Today started with light rain. When we left, it was raining, but forty minutes later the sun again illuminated our path. Today we walked through the Kuga-Kup swamp and came to Lake Michel.

June 30th:

We entered the crossing. The weather pleased us all day, the sun shone. We quickly reached the Beryozovaya Griva camp, where, after dinner, the game “Hunting for Ferrets” was held by the sun.

June 29:

Today is our last day at our parking lot. Tomorrow we start our journey. Therefore, we complete bows, knives, learn to shoot and make arrows. After lunch, we played the Small Forpost game, where the tribes of the River and Forest fought. The rivermen won twice.
The time of personal trials also begins. Today, the White Raven warrior took the test of silence for the whole day.
Tomorrow we are moving forward to the transition, the connection will be worse, so we will write news less often.

June 28:
Today we went to the forest to buy bows and knives. Many warriors and squaws immediately began to make weapons, and in the evening some of them could be seen almost finished products.
It didn’t rain today, the weather is sunny. After lunch, we had a call round. We made bows and knives.
And after the evening council we had an evening of songs. Tomorrow we will get ready for the transition

June 27:
Today, before lunch, we had a little rain, which quickly gave way to the sun. Everything is fine with us, we eat hearty, at night we are not cold.
Today was the first Challenge Circle where warriors and squaws competed in agility and strength. After dinner we made gifts, and after that we went to play the old national game “Indian Hide and Seek”, where the Indians learned to disguise themselves and hide in the forest.
Tomorrow we’ll go to the forest for bows and knives.
List of names:
Andreevskaya Maria – Skvo without a name
Bekasova Taisiya – Free Wind
Britova Julia – Lunar Fox
Dragan Xenia – Stirring River
Ionov Yaroslav – Forest Resident

Alexey Pavlikov — River Wolf
Selivanova Sophia – Twilight Wind
Smirnov Sergey – Soaring Raven
Fokina Daria – Sandy Spider
Horoshikh Anna – Soaring Hawk
Shcheglova Olesya – Pearly Crane

June 27:

We arrived at the clearing, settled down and set up camp.
The sun shone all day, we were warm and happy. But we are ready for the rain. In our tribe, on the very first day, the Tipi of the Great Manitou appeared. Our breastfeeding cooks are tasty and satisfying.

In the evening there was a trail of names where the Indians found their names (the list will be sent later)

June 26:

We arrived, had breakfast and are already preparing dinner. We have beautiful weather – very warm, the sun is shining, the mood is great! We send warm greetings to everyone!
