This describes the main features of the MacBook Air with M2 chip (13-inch and 15-inch models).

• Thunderbolt / USB 4 connectors. Charges your computer, transfers data at Thunderbolt 3 or USB 4 speeds (up to 40 Gbps), connects a display or projector, and other devices. These ports can also be used to charge devices such as an iPad, trackpad, or battery-powered keyboard.

• MagSafe port 3. Connects the included USB-C power adapter to a power outlet to charge your MacBook Air battery. The indicator will glow amber when the battery needs to be charged and green when it is fully charged. Your MacBook Air with M2 chip can charge up to 50 percent faster in 30 minutes when you use the 70W USB-C Power Adapter (sold separately).

• 1080p FaceTime HD camera. Chat with FaceTime video calls, record videos, take pictures. The camera system provides high quality video and performs well in low light conditions. • Speakers. The 15″ MacBook Air with M2 chip has a six-speaker audio system, two of which are tweeters and two are forced-cancelling woofers. The 13-inch MacBook Air with the M2 chip is equipped with a four-speaker audio system, two of which are tweeters and two are woofers. Both computers can enjoy rich, immersive audio with Dolby Atmos spatial audio support for movies and music.

• Touch ID button (power button). Press to turn on your MacBook Air (or just lift the lid). You can also lock your Mac by pressing the Touch ID button. When you first set up or reboot, log in with your password. Once Touch ID is set up, you can authenticate with a tap instead of a password (after signing in to your account for the first time) and use Touch ID to make purchases with Apple Pay. • Force Touch trackpad. Control your MacBook Air with gestures. The entire surface of the trackpad acts as a single button, so it doesn’t matter where you press it. For information about using gestures, see MacBook Air Trackpad.

MacBook Air

• The new laptop was shown at the WWDC 2023 conference. The diagonal of the Liquid Retina display is 15.3 inches. Steve Jobs spoke about plans to release such a device in 2007.
• 1 billion color display with 500 nits brightness and 5mm bezels. The device is equipped with a 1080p webcam, as well as six speakers and spatial audio technology.
• 11.5mm thick laptop: According to the company, this is the world’s thinnest 15-inch laptop. The weight of the device is 1.4 kg.

• The notebook is powered by an M2 chip with an octa-core central processing unit (CPU) and a 10-core graphics processing unit (GPU) and supports a 16-core Neural Engine. In March 2023, Bloomberg columnist Mark Gurman said that it would be wiser to release a laptop on the M3 chip, since it would quickly “obsolete” on the M2.
• RAM – up to 24 GB. The device is equipped with a MagSafe charging connector, two Thunderbolt 4 ports and a headphone jack.
• The laptop was released in four colors – dusty blue, gray, light silver and light gold. The cost starts from $1299. You can place an order from June 5, delivery will begin from June 13.
• The starting price for the 13-inch MacBook Air on the M2 chip will be reduced by $100 to $1099.

• At the presentation, the company also showed updated Mac Studio workstations based on M2 Ultra and M2 Max chips.

• Mac Studio on the M2 Max is up to 50% faster than the previous generation station and four times faster than the highest performing 27-inch iMac powered by Intel, the company claims. The number of CPU cores is 12, GPU is 38. The amount of combined memory is up to 96 GB, the bandwidth is 400 GB per second.
• Apple claims Mac Studio on the M2 Ultra is twice as fast as the M2 Max and three times as fast as the previous generation Mac Studio on the M1 Ultra. All this thanks to a 24-core CPU and 76-core GPU, as well as 192 GB of combined memory and 800 GB / s bandwidth.
