The monitor is one of the most power consuming items in the computer, so in order to minimize the amount of power consumed at the time , when it is not used for work, the so-called power-saving mode has been invented.
It is customary to subdivide the monitor operation modes into several types depending on the blocks involved. There are two of them in LG monitors: a vertical scanner and a horizontal scanner.
- Operating mode (Normal) – the operating state of the LG monitor, in which both units operate.
- Standby mode (Stand-By) – a mode in which only the vertical scanner works, and the horizontal scanner is disabled. In this mode, the monitor turns on quickly enough (it usually takes a few seconds for it to return to Normal mode). Energy savings are small – about 10 watts from total consumption.
- Suspend mode – a mode in which the vertical block is disabled, and the horizontal one is in working condition. The monitor takes longer to come out of the Suspend state, but the energy savings are much higher. In this mode, the monitor consumes about 15 watts.
- Power-Off mode – a mode in which both main monitor nodes are turned off. The average power consumption in this mode is 5 watts.
A monitor’s “power-saving mode” is most commonly referred to as Stand-By mode.
A properly configured power saving mode on the monitor will conserve a significant amount of power as well as the life of the monitor itself, without causing any inconvenience to the user. But, like many other things, the monitor’s operating modes can be customized, and if you don’t need an energy-saving mode, you can simply turn it off. To do this is quite simple.
