WILD HEARTS – Flying Squirrel battle

At PAX East 2023, when we met with NIS America they had a whopping ten games to show us. The meeting was primarily to focus on how these ten games will be released in 2023 and what to expect from them. So what were the ten games?

During the meeting, we were shown: Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virueless, Ys IX: Monstrum Nox, Monster Menu: The Scavenger’s Cookbook, The Caligula Effect Overdose, Raiden III X Mikado Maniax, The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie, R-Type Tactics 1 & 2 Cosmos, Rhapsody: Marl Kingdom Chronicles, The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails, and Cry Machina.

Below, we will be sharing with you the way the game was presented to us and our overall thoughts on each game. Keep in mind, at the time of this meeting, the games being shown are still in development and have tentative release dates. Keep an eye out for any changes here on Niche Gamer.

Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virueless

Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virueless is set to release in the Fall of 2023 on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC. The game is developed by Nippon Ichi Software and will feature Japanese and English voice acting, and will also feature English and French subtitles/text.

As someone who has never played Disgaea, the game looked interesting but not a good jump-in point for the franchise. The changes and additions look like the developers are trying to appease fans after the criticism they got from the previous game.

The character models look interesting with a more modern spin for a dark theme. Honestly, who doesn’t like cute demons? Fans of the series should feel that the game is a return to form after a slight hiccup.

        Ys IX: Monstrum Nox

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox, this is one title I had not heard of before PAX East. Ys IX: Monstrum Nox is set to launch on May 9th, 2023 on PlayStation 5. The game is developed by Nihon Falcom and is an action RPG game. This game will also feature English and Japanese voice acting and English and French subtitles/text.

The characters in this game look amazing and there will definitely be some characters that players love more than others. Move between light and dark to smite the darkness.

Combat within the game looks pretty well-rounded but the overworld appears to have a major focus on openness and exploration. We have already potentially found a favorite character with The Raging Bull. The soundtrack seems to be battle heavy but could be more diverse than what the trailer showcases.

        Monster Menu: The Scavenger’s Cookbook

Monster Menu: The Scavenger’s Cookbook is scheduled to be released on May 23, 2023, on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 for $49.99. Monster Menu was developed by Nippon Ichi Software and will feature English and Japanese voice acting and English subtitles.

Prepare to make the best food you can and survive the dungeons. Personally, we feel that this will be a fun adventure where you can make new allies.

The idea of cooking monster parts to make yourself stronger could be fun mechanic based on how it’s presented. The players’ characters and the monsters both look cute. Hopefully there is a diverse variety of monsters to slay and cook up. As someone who is less likely to play dungeon crawlers, I would be open to trying this one out.

        The Caligula Effect Overdose

The Caligula Effect Overdose is a single-player RPG coming to the PlayStation 5 in 2023. The game is being developed by FuRyu. Fans of Persona and JRPGs might enjoy this game when it releases. The game is only voiced in Japanese but features English subtitles.

The idea that The Caligula Effect Overdose contains a bunch of different characters the player can interact with makes the world sound massive. Hopefully the remastered graphics and gameplay will bring new life to the game.

Learn who you can recruit and fight against the false sense of reality. It will be interesting to see how the team adapts the game to the PS5 and what changes, if any, occur.

        Raiden III X Mikado Maniax

Raiden III X Mikado Maniax is set to release on June 6th, 2023 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

The game will allow 2 players to play through a digitally enhanced version of the classic shooter formerly only in Japan. Shoot enemies to a musical soundtrack of your choosing. The game is developed by MOSS and will feature English subtitles.

As someone who has not played Raiden, it will be interesting comparing it to retro arcade games. Hopefully the game will feature online and local co-op to allow players to get the best experience possible. Visually, the game looks good, but it will come down to how it feels as well.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie

The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie is set to release on July 7th, 2023 on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie is developed by Nihon Falcom and will feature English and Japanese voice acting.

Pick between a variety of heroes to take down challenges and unlock new allies and skills. Unlock a variety of minigames that you can play when tired of combat. Even go to the beach and have some fun in the sun.

When you compare this game to other games in the Trails series, it feels more like fan service and something to unwind with. Now there’s nothing wrong with that, but players should know what they are getting into.

        R-Type Tactics 1 & 2 Cosmos

R-Type Tactics 1 & 2 Cosmos is set to release this summer and will be available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.

The game is being developed by Granzella and is a turn-based strategy game. The game’s audio is strictly in Japanese but it will feature English, Japanese, French, Italian, German, and Spanish text.

This game is a remake of the PSP titles coming to the west for the first time. Out of all the games shown to us, this was the one we were least excited about. The game looks like an old-school arcade game but is more of a space RTS.

        Rhapsody: Marl Kingdom Chronicles

Rhapsody: Marl Kingdom Chronicles is an RPG in development by Nippon Ichi Software. The game is set to be released on Nintendo Switch, PC, and PlayStation 5 this summer.

The game will feature Japanese and English voice acting, however, all singing within the game will be in Japanese. Rhapsody: Marl Kingdom Chronicles is actually the HD remaster of Rhapsody II: Ballad of the Little Princess and Rhapsody III: Memories of Marl Kingdom.

Experience Rhapsody 2 and 3 for the first time. Return to an older time with turn-based combat and explore a vast magical world. The characters in the game look cute, but the trailer doesn’t do the game enough justice. If you are a fan of the older Dragon Quest, Golden Sun, or Final Fantasy, you should have a good time. We are definitely looking forward to when this releases.

The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails

The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails is an Action RPG currently in development by Nihon Falcom. The game is currently scheduled for a PlayStation 4 release in the Fall of 2023.

The game will feature Japanese and English voice acting and will also feature English text. This is the only demo we got to play during the meeting. The gameplay was smooth but the movement took a bit to get used to.

Combat was fairly easy to understand for the bit of the demo, but was only a small sample. The mix of art styles between realm exploration and cut scenes should draw players in with its colors and cute characters.

Crymachina is an action RPG currently in development by FuRyu for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 and is currently scheduled to be released in the Fall of 2023.

The game is will feature Japanese voice dialog with English subtitles. Visually, this game looks the most appealing to us with stunning visuals, beautiful characters, and colorful special effects.

The Japanese voice acting in the trailer for Crymachina feels so intense and will probably feels like it should make you love machines.

Which of these NIS America titles are you most excited about? Will you be picking up any of these games? Sound off in the comments below!

Monster Menu: The Scavenger’s Cookbook, NIS America, R-Type Tactics 1 & 2 Cosmos, Raiden III x MIKADO MANIAX, Rhapsody: Marl Kingdom Chronicles, The Caligula Effect: Overdose, The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie, The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails, Ys IX: Monstrum Nox

Who is Sheck Wes – a rapper who traded his basketball career for a contract with Kanye and fashion shows

He quit basketball and it was a three-pointer! This 20 year old is trying to reinvent trap right now – and now is the time to get to know him better

Sheck Wes is a 20-year-old guy from Harlem, whose made literally on
        knee track “Mo Bamba”
blew up America this year and got into the Top 40 hits of the Billboard chart. The song was named after
NBA rookie Mohamed Bamba, with whom the rapper grew up in the same area and often
        played basketball.

Shek himself also had a basketball career,
however, one day he traded sports for participation in a fashion show – and this decision
changed his life. Since then, its lead song has gone viral (via
year after the release!) and eclipsed the popularity of Bamba itself. And a young rapper
signed to Kanye West’s GOOD Music and Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack labels.

On October 5, Shek released his debut album Mudboy. And while the Wes phenomenon has not yet spread much across
Russia, we tell you 11 interesting facts from the biography of the young
rapper. They have it all: life in Senegal, fashion shows, love for
old rap and the history of the hit “Mo Bamba”.

        Track “Mo Bamba”
was recorded in just 20 minutes

According to producers 16yrold and Take A Daytrip, Shek recorded his
the main song in just one take. At first, he just read and freestyled to the beat.
        – during this time, the computer even managed to freeze, but it continued anyway. When
the producers suggested that he record another chorus, Shek replied: “No, it’s
        shit and so perfect.”

He only asked to play the track again to prescribe
edlibs. In total, the writing time of the song took only 20 minutes. Usain
Bolt from the world of rap – not otherwise.

His famous ad-lib “Bitch!” – the result of a malfunctioning computer

In their New York Times interview, production duo Take A Daytrip
told about the history of the appearance of Shek’s signature adlib. During the recording of the track “Mo Bamba”, the beatmakers’ computer
suddenly hovered, and the rapper yelled: “Oh shit!”. And after Shek
        yelled “Bitch!”
suddenly it worked, and he, as if nothing had happened, continued to read. So this word
got on the record and became the rapper’s signature phrase.

This ad-lib allowed Shek’s tracks to become even more recognizable.
So Drake threw him a shutout on “Sicko Mode”
        adding branded “Bitch”
        into your couplet.

Fun Fact: On his new album Mudboy, Shek says this word 216

Started making music at age 11 and was inspired by old school rap

Shek has always been passionate about music, and it was she who became his first real hobby. He liked rhythms, especially West African tunes. The rapper was drawn to
music, and already at the age of 11 his first musical instrument
became the African drum. He also
        played drums in school.

As a child, Shack listened to a lot of old New York rap – in particular, Nasa, Big L and Ol’ Dirty Bastard. By the way, his energy is periodically compared with the deceased member of the Wu-Tang Clan. Later, Wes became a fan of Kid Cudi and Lil B.

As a child, he became part of a rap group and was known as Kid Khadi

At the age of five, Shack moved with his family to Milwaukee, where he lived for nine years. There he hung out in a shoe store owned by two older guys.
One of them became a real OG for Shek and a mentor, teaching the future
rapper listen to music. When his peers played Crank Dat, Shek listened to Nas’s The Message.

It was also where he first tried his hand at hip-hop. His
the first alias was Kid Khadi as a reference to “The Man in the Moon” Kid Cudi and
to his real name Khadimoul. It was a four piece rap group
        the name Milyorkers. “Because
that of all, only I was from New York, and everyone else was from Milwaukee, ”recalls Shack.

As a child, his houses burned down several times, and he had to live
        in shelters

When Shek was a year old, the house he lived in burned down. To him
I had to spend some time in a shelter. But the next house he
family moved after, burned down again, and he was forced to return to the orphanage. After
After that, he and his relatives moved to social housing, where he spent a large
        part of conscious life.

Shek lived 20 blocks from the so-called “Danger Zone” – one of the districts
Harlem, to which Big L dedicated his album. There is also a huge mural of the legendary rapper, past
whom Shek liked to walk. Now he continues to live in social housing,
        and the clip “Mo Bamba”
        filmed in his area.

At the age of 17, his mother sent him to Senegal, worried about his way of life

Because of the inappropriate, in the opinion of the mother, lifestyle and
misplaced priorities, she sent Shek to relatives in
Africa. His passport was taken away from him, and he also had to get rid of grills, chains and cut his hair – in Senegal, according to his relatives, he could be “showed” for such an appearance.

Once he even turned to the US Embassy for help, because without a passport, the rapper cannot
could buy tickets back – they said that since he was under 18, they were unable to help. Then Wes began to feel betrayed by his own family.

As a result, the rapper spent 4 months in Senegal, diligently attending school and meeting with a spiritual mentor. It was there that Shek began to practice Islam.

He knows the African Wolof language and even read it

Shek’s parents immigrated to the States from Senegal. There
most of the rapper’s relatives remained – the family house in which he lived consisted of about 90 people. His mother named Sheka after a religious figure.
and the leader of the peaceful liberation movement for the independence of Senegal from France – Khadim al Rasul (real name of the rapper Khadimoul Rassoul Cheikh Fall).

On the track “Jiggy on the Shits” from his debut album Mudboy, he rapped a verse on
Wolof language. This is the language of the indigenous inhabitants of Senegal, and in the lyrics of the song he just described his “exile” to Africa.

Shek missed the playoff game for the Yeezy Season fashion show

At the beginning of 2016, another
a turning point that influenced his future fate. One day he decided
skip your team’s playoff game by going to the Yeezy Season 3 screening at
Madison Square Garden (the presentation of the album “The Life of Pablo” took place there).

After that, he realized that he wanted to devote himself to music and modeling.
business. Relations with the coach were spoiled, but Shek had already finally placed
priorities. And this despite the fact that that year he was the leader in the city in
the number of passes per game.

He played basketball with Kanye and thinks he can beat anyone

By his 20s, Shek has played basketball with YG and Lil Dicky and is also a frequent hangout.
on the court with Kanye. According to him, Ye has a rather strange way of playing: he
scores layups without a miss, plays hard on the backboard, and Shek
does not understand how he does it:

It’s kind of crazy. You know, when you’re playing NBA 2K and you have “big” running around the court. You press the buttons and start to feint – that’s what Kanye is.

The young hitmaker would like to fight on the court with 2 Chainz and
        Quavo, believing that
can take any rapper. ‘Cause no matter how cool they play, he came from
of the world of basketball and intends to take part in the celebrity match on the Weekend of all
        NBA stars next year.

He thinks he can beat J. Cole, Drake and others in a battle if he wants to

According to the rapper, today a huge role in the success of the track is played by
producers and they are the real hip-hop stars:

Shutout Lil Pumpu, but in the track “Gucci Gang” he actually raps about nothing. Yes, my song is “Live Sheck Wes”
built on approximately the same principle – one verse and chorus – however, my
lyrics are always real. That’s why grown niggas respect my
        more creativity.

Shek also states that if he wanted to, he could win in
rap battle between J. Cole, Drake, Kanye and others
artists. As a little proof, Wes remembers how he re-read all
        Migos members,
being in the same room with them.

Shek taught himself how to play the piano and knows compositions

Shek never took piano lessons, but learned
everything himself. Not to say that he mastered this art, but, according to him, he can confidently
play a couple of Beethoven’s pieces.

He always liked the way Kanye and Travis
Scott works with the music, adding his signature sounds to the beats. Shek always wanted to have his own handwriting and make his own.
music is unique, and the ability to play the keyboard – as it seems to him – helps in this.
