The Ninja Foodi Power Nutri DUO, also sold as the ‘Ninja Foodi Smoothie Bowl Maker’, is a compact personal blender. It comes with a pair of 24-ounce jars and to-go lids for single-serve smoothies and other drinks. There’s also a 14-ounce ‘Smoothie Bowl Maker’ jar with rotating arms inside of it meant for thicker mixtures. Like most personal blenders, it can’t hot blend and has only one speed setting.

Our Verdict

7.8

Multi-Purpose

The Ninja Foodi Power Nutri DUO is good for multi-purpose use. With both its 24-ounce and 14-ounce jars, it maintains a similarly fantastic performance making silky smoothies. It can also make smooth nut butter as well as snow-like crushed ice. It can’t hot blend, though. On the upside, it’s very easy to clean.

Pros

  • Easy to clean.

  • Makes a silky blend with fibrous ingredients.

  • Makes snow-like crushed ice.

Cons

  • Can’t hot blend.

  • Loud.

9.2

Smoothies (Single Serving)

The Ninja Foodi Power Nutri DUO is superb for single-serve smoothies. The 24-ounce jars make an exceptionally smooth puree with ingredients like kale, so it’s ideal for silky green smoothies. There are resealable lids included for the jars, which are easy to clean by hand or in the dishwasher.

Cons

  • Loud.

8.0

Smoothies (Multiple Servings)

The Ninja Foodi Power Nutri DUO is excellent for multiple servings of smoothies. Even if you fill the jars to their maximum capacity, it makes a silky smoothie with fibrous ingredients. You can prepare two small smoothie servings in one jar, but their capacities are too small to easily serve a crowd. On the plus side, there are two jars with to-go lids included.

Cons

  • Loud.

7.3

Ice Crushing

The Ninja Foodi Power Nutri DUO is decent for ice-crushing. It can make snow-like crushed ice in less than a couple of minutes, which is perfect for any frozen drink. The blender itself is also well built and easy to clean.

Cons

  • Loud.

3.7

Soups

The Ninja Foodi Power Nutri DUO can’t hot blend, so if you want to use it for soup, your ingredients need to cool down first. It’s fantastic for blending fibrous ingredients like kale or broccoli into a silky puree, but the biggest jars only hold 24 ounces, so you’ll probably need to blend in batches.

Pros

  • Easy to clean.

Cons

  • Can’t hot blend.

  • Loud.

6.8

Professional Use

The Ninja Foodi Power Nutri DUO is acceptable for professional use. While it can’t hot blend, and its personal-sized jars limit you to small servings, it makes excellent blends. It can make smooth and spreadable almond butter as well as snow-like crushed ice and silky purees of fibrous ingredients. It’s also very easy to clean.

Pros

  • Easy to clean.

  • Makes a silky blend with fibrous ingredients.

  • Makes snow-like crushed ice.

Differences Between Sizes And Variants

The Ninja Foodi Power Nutri DUO (SS101), also called the Ninja Foodi Smoothie Bowl Maker and Nutrient Extractor, comes in one color: ‘Silver.’ You can see the label for the model we tested here.

There’s also a variant (CO101B) that’s only available at Costco (US). It’s identical, except that it comes with an 18-ounce Power Nutri Bowl (or Smoothie Bowl Maker) instead of a 14-ounce one. While you may get different results with the bigger jar, we expect this variant to perform similarly to our unit.

If you come across any other variants of this blender, let us know in the discussions, and we’ll update our review.

Compared To Other Blenders

The Ninja SS101 is a personal blender. It comes with three personal jars, two of which have a 24-ounce capacity. It also comes with a 14-ounce ‘Power Nutri Bowl’ or ‘Smoothie Bowl Maker’ that uses manually rotating arms to help push food towards the blades. Unlike many other personal blenders, it has no problem making smooth nut butter or snow-like crushed ice. It’s also outstandingly easy to clean.

Check out our recommendations for the best Ninja blenders, the best blenders for smoothies, and the best blenders for crushing ice.

It’s a short blender as its motor base isn’t very tall. While it still takes up some room on your counter, you can easily store it away in a cupboard, and the jar is removable.

It has a good build quality. Its parts are made of plastic that varies in thickness. The motor base feels a little thin and not very premium. However, the jars are thick in comparison, and one jar has a rotating arm mechanism, which helps push food away from the jar’s walls and towards the vortex.

It comes with a pair of 24-ounce personal jars with to-go lids. There’s also a 14-ounce jar included that Ninja calls a ‘Power Nutri Bowl’ or ‘Smoothie Bowl Maker’. It’s meant for thicker mixtures and has arms inside of it that you can rotate with a knob on top to help keep the ingredients moving.

The Ninja Fit is a personal blender that comes with a pair of 16-ounce jars meant for single-serve smoothies and protein shakes. There’s a to-go lid for each jar so you can bring your drink with you on the go. It has a compact, simple design, but you need to push on the jar continuously to blend, which some may find inconvenient. The jars, lids, and blades are top-rack dishwasher-safe.

Our Verdict

7.2

Multi-Purpose

The Ninja Fit blender is decent for multi-purpose use. It’s meant for making single-serve smoothies and works really well for that purpose. It can make a smooth blend with fibrous ingredients like kale and produce small batches of crushed ice. It even makes smooth, spreadable nut butter. Ηowever, the jars’ 16-ounce capacity is limiting, and you need to push on the jar to blend, so it’s not ideal for multiple batches. Like most personal blenders, it can’t hot blend and has only one speed setting.

Pros

  • Easy to clean by hand.

  • Smoothly blends fibrous ingredients like kale.

8.8

Smoothies (Single Serving)

The Ninja Fit blender is great for making single-serve smoothies. It comes with a pair of 16-ounce jars that are meant for making personal drinks like smoothies and shakes. They come with matching to-go lids. It makes a very smooth blend of fibrous ingredients like kale, so smoothies turn out silky even if you add tough ingredients like kale. The jars and lids are also dishwasher-safe and easy to clean by hand.

Pros

  • Easy to clean by hand.

  • Smoothly blends fibrous ingredients like kale.

6.9

Smoothies (Multiple Servings)

The Ninja Fit blender is okay for making multiple servings of smoothies. The 16-ounce jars are meant for making personal-sized smoothies, so it’s not ideal for that purpose. However, it makes a silky blend with fibrous ingredients like kale. The jars and lids are easy to clean by hand and dishwasher-safe.

Pros

  • Easy to clean by hand.

  • Smoothly blends fibrous ingredients like kale.

Cons

  • Small 16-ounce capacity.

  • Push-to-blend controls.

6.1

Ice Crushing

The Ninja Fit blender is mediocre for crushing ice. It can’t handle very many ice cubes at once, so if you’re making crushed ice for drinks, you need to work in batches. That said, it’s decently well-built and makes mostly snow-like ice with some icy, clumpy patches.

3.0

Soups

Like most personal blenders, the Ninja Fit isn’t safe to use for hot blending, so it’s not ideal for making soup. The jars’ small capacity also means you need to work in batches if you’re making soup for more than one person. However, it makes a smooth puree of fibrous ingredients, so you can use it to blend room temperature ingredients into a silky soup or sauce.

Cons

  • Can’t hot blend.

5.7

Professional Use

The Ninja Fit blender is poor for professional use. It can whip up a fantastic smoothie in little time and makes smooth, spreadable nut butter and nearly snow-like crushed ice. Unfortunately, its jars can only hold 16 ounces, and you need to hold down the jar continuously to blend, which may be a little annoying if you use the blender several times a day. Like most personal blenders, it can’t hot blend. Also, while it’s decently well-built, the plastic gears on the base and blade assembly don’t feel particularly durable.

Cons

  • Can’t fit many ice cubes at once.

  • Small 16-ounce capacity.

  • Can’t hot blend.

Differences Between Sizes And Variants

This blender comes in one variant with a black and silver color scheme. Our unit has the model number QΒ3001SS, and you can see its label here. It’s also sometimes sold with the model numbers QΒ3000SS and QΒ3000SSW, but these appear identical, and we expect our results to be valid for those models as well. If you come across another variant, please let us know in the discussions, and we’ll update our review.

Compared To Other Blenders

The Ninja Fit blender is a simple bullet blender that’s operated by pushing down on the jar, like the Ninja Nutri Ninja Pro or the Ninja Nutri-Blender Plus. It makes significantly better smoothies and almond butter but isn’t nearly as good at crushing ice. It may be because its jars are smaller and have a different shape. Still, you can use it to crush ice without liquid in the jar, unlike some personal blenders, like the NutriΒullet Pro. Unfortunately, unlike most other Ninja blenders, the manufacturer doesn’t have replacement jars or other parts for this model available on its website.

The Ninja Fit blender is a compact personal blender. It’s a bit smaller and lighter than the Ninja Nutri Ninja Pro and the Ninja Nutri-Blender Plus and doesn’t take up too much space on a kitchen counter or in a cupboard.

It has a decent build quality. The motor base gear is similar to the Ninja Nutri-Βlender Plus, but there’s a more robust mechanism around it to help hold the jars steady. There’s a rubber ring around the bottom of the motor base that helps it grip onto surfaces. Unfortunately, the gears on the motor base and blade assembly are made of cheap-feeling plastic. The jar doesn’t screw or lock onto the base either, so you have to hold it down to blend. Overall, it’s not as well-built as the Ninja Foodi Power Nutri DUO.

It’s great for crushing ice. Although we usually test personal blenders with batches of four ice cubes, the jar can only fit three, so the test was performed using four batches of three ice cubes. It makes nearly snow-like crushed ice, with some icy and clumpy bits. You need to hold the jar down to blend, so it’s a bit annoying to use for ice crushing if you’re making multiple batches.

Nut Butter Preparation

Nut Butter Texture

This blender makes very smooth, spreadable nut butter. It doesn’t take very long, but it’s not the easiest process because you have to hold the jar down to blend. You also have to undock and shake the jar a few times to help all the nuts get processed. If you plan to make nut butter or other dips and spreads with your blender, the ZWILLING ENFINIGY Personal Blender is easier to use.

Refreshing fruit shake, delicate milkshake or delicious smoothie – a good blender will easily prepare these drinks. In our article, we will tell you how to choose it, what characteristics are important and what to look for if you need a blender for cocktails.

Drink Features

A properly prepared smoothie is more than just crushed and mixed ingredients. Some recipes call for saturating the drink with air, others for quick mixing to preserve nutrients in the products, and still others for the use of ice. Such recipe features should be considered when deciding which blender to choose for cocktails or smoothies. They affect performance and function requirements.

Milkshake:

  • is whipped at very high speed;
  • needs a large bowl;
  • it is important that ingredients can be added while whipping.

To make the milkshake tender, milk with ice cream must be whipped so as to obtain airy foam. To do this, the blender must run at high speed and be powerful enough. Usually milkshakes are prepared in large portions (from 250–300 ml). Therefore, the bowl for whipping should be large enough.

Smoothies:

  • need to grind or mix dense products;
  • requires high speed whipping;
  • bowl may be small.

Smoothies are made from the pulp of vegetables or fruits, as well as additional ingredients. It can be cottage cheese, greens, bran, kefir, water, milk, tea or hard nuts, ice. If you will be using hard foods in your recipes, you will need a more powerful blender with strong, sharp blades. It is desirable that it has a special mode for crushing ice, such as the Polaris PTB 1530G. The same blender has a separate mini chopper, which is convenient to use for nuts or greens.

An important feature of the correct smoothie preparation is quick whipping. If you whip foods at high speed for a long time, they will begin to heat up. This will destroy the vitamins and other beneficial substances contained in them. The blender must run at high speed to ensure that the entire volume of the cocktail is thoroughly whipped in a short time. For desktop Polaris models, the bowls have special internal ribs for this, which correctly direct the flow of liquid when the knives rotate.

Fruit cocktail:

  • need speed adjustment;
  • the bowl must be large enough;
  • is important power, as well as the quality of the knives.

For fruit or vegetable smoothies, the pulp is crushed, whipped or mixed with the addition of pure or carbonated water, iced tea, crushed ice and other ingredients. They are usually prepared in large portions. Therefore, the bowl must be roomy. It is important that the knives are strong, not damaged if a bone is accidentally caught in the pulp. Some fruit smoothies are simply mixed, while others are whipped until airy foam forms. To prepare any recipe, it is important that the blender speed is adjustable.

Immersion blenders

Immersion blenders are handy for making complex cocktails. With their help, you can grind the ingredients in different ways, mix and beat them:

  • chopper bowl is used for dense products;
  • leg blender can grind and mix a large number of products at once;
  • You can use a whisk to whip the drink until foamy.

If the blender will be used primarily for smoothies, the following features and attachments will be useful:

  • speed control;
  • turbo mode;
  • chopper bowl;
  • whisk attachment;
  • measuring cup included.

The presence of speed control and turbo mode will allow you to flexibly adjust the operation of the blender: from slow rotation of the knives when mixing to fast when beating. The chopper bowl is useful for single ingredients, for example, if the recipe includes the pulp of apples, pears or other dense fruits. With the help of a whisk, the cocktail is quickly whipped to an airy foam, and a measuring cup will help you accurately determine the amount of ingredients. For many recipes, this is important in order to get the optimum consistency and flavor.

An immersion blender can be used for more than just smoothies. It can grind, mix, beat, chop. With it, it is convenient to prepare mashed potatoes, dough, fillings, sauces, creams and many other dishes. If you need a functional helper in the kitchen, the submersible model is a good choice.

Stationary blenders

Table blenders are very convenient for making cocktails, smoothies, milkshakes. They have a stable base, comfortable voluminous bowls, specially shaped knives for quick chopping, mixing, whipping. These models have several advantages:

  • speed can be adjusted;
  • food can be loaded into the bowl during cooking;
  • the entire volume of the drink is evenly mixed and whipped;
  • the finished drink can be stored directly in the bowl and poured from it.

Polaris models have additional benefits. For example, Polaris PTB 1834G comes with a travel bottle, which is convenient to take with you. You can crush ice in a separate crusher or in the main bowl. The shape of the jug is specially adapted for even mixing, and the knives provide fast chopping and whipping, which preserves the benefits of the products.

Preparing smoothies or smoothies in a stationary blender is easy. To do this, you need to install the bowl on the base, put food in it, close the lid, turn on the device. Many devices have adjustable speed and additionally have a pulse mode. It is convenient if the lid of the jug allows you to add ingredients right during cooking.

Like immersion blenders, stand-alone blenders can be used for more than just fruit smoothies or smoothies. They can be used to prepare many other healthy dishes, such as soups, mousses, sauces and even desserts.

Wireless blenders

Wireless devices do not require a network connection, making them more convenient to use. Submersible and stationary, as well as compact models are suitable for making cocktails.

Submersible models have the same functionality as conventional wired ones. They can have several nozzles, they are powerful enough, and their speed is adjustable. They are convenient to use if it is important to do without unnecessary wires in the kitchen, for example, if sockets are located inconveniently or are occupied by other appliances.

Desktop models have a fairly roomy bowl, for example, Polaris PTB 0435 CordLess has a volume of one and a half liters. The working part with a motor and rotating knives closes the jug from above. When the cocktail is ready, it can be removed and closed with a lid.

Compact cordless blenders are convenient to take with you. Their volume is calculated for one serving of the drink. It is 350 ml. They can prepare smoothies, milk and fruit shakes, and other drinks. You can make a cocktail at home and take it with you to work, school or the gym as a healthy snack. Thanks to the knives built into the lid, it can be mixed right before use. Another option is to prepare healthy snacks in a portable blender on the go. Put berries or a couple of fruits inside, add kefir or water, whisk quickly – and your cocktail is ready. The compact cordless blender Polaris PTB 0109Cordless additionally has a convenient carrying strap, and the lid closes hermetically and securely so that the contents will definitely not spill.

What to look for when choosing?

Which blender is better for smoothies: submersible or stationary, with a large bowl or, on the contrary, compact, powerful or economical? We figure out what the main characteristics should be.

Power

The power requirements depend on what kind of cocktails you plan to prepare. If you need to grind and mix berries or fruits with not too dense pulp, mix mostly liquid ingredients, high power is not required – 300–500 W is enough. Choosing a more powerful blender is worth it if:

  • Shake the cocktail until foamy;
  • you are planning to make a smoothie and need a quick whip;
  • need to crush dense solid foods, nuts, ice;
  • you want to make large portions of cocktails, prepare drinks for the whole family or a large company.

For smoothies or complex cocktails, models with a power of 800 watts or more are suitable. If you need a device that can break ice, quickly whip airy foam and prepare large portions of cocktails, it is better to choose a professional model with a power of 1000 watts or more.

Speed control

It can be smooth or stepped. It is good if the blender additionally has a pulse or turbo mode.

Speed control is needed to select the operating mode of the device. It is convenient to mix products with a relatively slow rotation of the knives. For grinding, you need a higher speed. Shake cocktails and make smoothies better at high speed. The pulse mode is useful for grinding solid foods, and the turbo mode is useful for whipping airy milk foam.

Equipment

If you only need a blender for cocktails, you won’t need many different attachments. For a submersible model, a whisk and a chopper are enough, and for a stationary model, a regular bowl with built-in knives is enough. If the blender has to replace several devices, choose a more functional model.

If it is submersible, the kit may include:

  • chopper bowl;
  • puree attachment;
  • measuring cup;
  • bowl with grater and knives for chopping or dicing.
