Predator games in Russian

The Predator is an iconic character introduced to us by the sci-fi movies of the same name. He and his large cousins, armed with advanced technology, quickly gained popularity with the audience and became part of an impressive media franchise that includes toys, comics, rides, books and games. The latter will be discussed in this article.

Since the very end of the 1980s, several dozen projects of varying degrees of success have been released with this terrible creature in the title role, and some of them have become hits for all time. Let’s take a look at the Predator series spanning several decades.

Predator: Soon the Hunt Will Begin (1989)

  • Platforms: NES

Predator Soon the Hunt Will Begin, originally released in 1987 on the Commodore 64, is a great adaptation of the classic Arnold Schwarzenegger movie in the form of a horizontal scrolling shooter. In the future, the game visited many consoles and computer platforms, including the NES (known as Dendy in Russia and the CIS), but remained almost unchanged everywhere – the player in the role of Major Alan Schaeffer fought for his survival.

An interesting fact – the NES version added a cool one-on-one battle mode, where the platforming elements were completely excluded, and the player simply fought the Predator. Thanks to interesting gameplay and different ways to complete this mode, the home console port has taken its rightful place next to the more technically advanced versions on PC.

Predator 2 (1990)

  • Platforms: DOS, Amiga, Amstrad CPC, Atari ST, Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum

A game based on the second part of the “Predator”, which was released in the year of the film’s release, even though it has little in common with the original source. It was a rail shooter released exclusively for home computers, which in the early 90s was quite a risky decision. As a result, this greatly affected the popularity and sales, although the game itself was not bad.

There were few good shooters on the PC in those years, because Wolfenstein 3D and Doom would be released a little later, so Predator 2 was in many ways a unique product for its time, which is doubly disappointing that most gamers who then preferred consoles never had a chance to see him.

Predator 2 (1992)

  • Platforms: Sega Genesis

Predator 2 for the Sega Genesis (or Mega Drive 2) is an isometric shooter where the player hunts down the Predator as Mike Harrigan (Danny Glover’s character). Urban spaces are interesting to explore, and even now the game is captivating despite the fact that its age is already noticeable, and playing shooters without analog sticks is not that very pleasant.

Alien vs Predator (1993)

  • Platforms: SNES

Alien vs Predator 1993 marked the first meeting of two legendary aliens in the history of video games, but for some reason the developers decided to organize this meeting in the format of a very strange boxing match. It was a rather monotonous and unprincipled beat’em up for the SNES, where, as the Predator, we had to clash with a whole gang of Aliens in an unequal battle, who were constantly pearling from the right, then from the left side of the screen.

In general, there is nothing more to say about this creation, except that the next game in the same genre and under the same name was much more successful.

Alien vs Predator: The Last of His Clan (1993)

  • Platforms: Game Boy

Released in the same year, The Last of His Clan introduced this crossover of the century to Game Boy portable console owners.

Although already more of an action platformer, the game shares many of the shortcomings of Alien vs Predator on the SNES in many ways, but given the platform’s limitations, the project’s poor quality is a little more forgivable. If you do not take into account the monotonous gameplay and unresponsive controls, the main crime of the game is that it is simply boring.

Alien vs. Predator (1994)

  • Platforms: Arcades

Capcom’s 1994 arcade game, considered by many to be the finest Aliens vs. Predator licensed game, was a success. This is one of the best beat’em’ups ever, where Predators and humans team up to fight Aliens. It’s a pleasure to go through the beautiful levels of the game, and even now it’s just as great as it was 25 years ago. Great design never fades, and while most games in this genre are pretty monotonous, there’s enough variety here to keep the game experience from start to finish.

Alien vs. Predator (1994)

  • Platforms: Atari Jaguar

Alien vs. Predator was the game that bought the Atari Jaguar for. Developed by Rebellion Developments, this first-person shooter exploited the technical potential of the system to its fullest.

First of all, the graphics here are great (at least for their time), and the soundtrack still looks decent and can really scare. The game even featured three different campaigns starring different characters: Alien, Predator, or Human. Maybe in our time it’s hard to play it, because from 19For 94 years, the genre has moved forward, but without her, this list would be incomplete.

Aliens vs. Predator (2000)

  • Platforms: Windows, macOS

Rebellion returned to the license five years later, creating the best shooter called Aliens vs. Predator. It retains the previous game’s format and again features three different campaigns. In 2010, the game was re-released as Aliens vs. Predator Classic 2000 is still fun to play thanks to the crazy action. The edition also includes the Millenium add-on and a full-fledged multiplayer.

Aliens vs. Predator 2 (2001)

  • Platforms: Windows, macOS

Despite making two great games, Rebellion hasn’t worked on a sequel to their shooter. Monolith Production studio picked up the baton with its 2001 game.

Here again there were and are three separate campaigns, and the plot partly continues the “Alien 3”, the events of which take place 50 years later. The campaign is structured better than in previous installments, and the three stories are intertwined. Fans keep the game going strong with some great mods, and it still looks great even today. Definitely the best shooter under the license.

Aliens vs. Predator Extinction (2003)

  • Platforms: PS2, Xbox

Aliens vs. Predator Extinction, published by Electronic Arts, presents a completely different take on the series compared to previous examples. Now this is not an action game, but a real-time strategy game.

Unfortunately, it was released only on consoles, so the controls here are lame, but this lack is compensated by the attention to unit management and strategy. There is no base building here, which is a good thing as it eliminates unnecessary complexity. Each of the three different races is fun to fight, and overall it’s a decent real-time strategy game for newcomers or fans of the series.

Predator: Concrete Jungle (2005)

  • Platforms: PS2, Xbox

Predator: Concrete Jungle, named after the comic book series of the same name, is a third-person shooter for PS2 and Xbox created by Eurocom. One of the game’s standout features is its storyline, which begins in 1930 and then flashes forward 100 years in which the titular creature is disgraced and exiled from the clan. Now he must restore his honor by killing many people. It’s definitely a “B” game in terms of quality, but thanks to its intentionally exaggerated atmosphere, it’s fun to play even now, even though it’s far from technically perfect.

Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007)

  • Platforms: PSP

This mediocre commercial product for the PSP handheld console, released for the release of the movie of the same name, was, oddly enough, created by the same studio Rebellion, which previously gave us some excellent games in the AvP series. It’s a shame that although the predator itself looks pretty cool here, it’s not very interesting to play for it, moreover, even against the background of other PSP games of those years, Requiem looked rather poor.

Predators (2010)

  • Platforms: Android, iOS

Oddly enough, the previous Predator mobile game was even better, in large part because it was entirely dedicated to this ruthless space hunter, so it was based on the 2010 movie.

It’s also a slasher, and even bigger and more violent than AVP: Evolution. There are more than 30 missions in the game, but before you get to them, you had to go through the prologue, where you played as a squad of Predators in full combat readiness, who go in search of human prey that has newly arrived on their planet. For this epic and uncompromising start alone, the game deserves to be at the top of this list.

Aliens vs. Predator (2010)

  • Platforms: Windows, PS3, Xbox 360

In 2010, Rebellion Developments returned to the Aliens vs. Predator and decided to reboot it. And although the game, unfortunately, is not as good as the two parts for PC, it has become a pretty good first-person shooter. Here again, as in previous games, there are three distinct campaigns, although they borrow a lot from Monolith and come together to form a coherent story in the same way. But the 2010 reincarnation definitely looks dated and doesn’t live up to its full potential.

AVP: Evolution (2014)

  • Platforms: Android, iOS

AVP: Evolution is a rather ambitious mobile game set on a distant unknown planet where a clan of “Super Predators”,

, has managed to capture the xenomorph queen. They intend to use the queen to control the Aliens and destroy the other Predator clans, including the hunters who seem to be visiting Earth. Of course, Weyland-Yutani’s base is nearby, and they are capturing a couple of xenomorph eggs for their own experiments.

You alternately play either the poor Alien who lost his mother, or the Predator hunter, and the Marines are here only as enemies and snacks. The first missions for both aliens are interesting as you find yourself surrounded by Super Predators and desperately fighting for your life. In terms of gameplay, this is far from the worst and in places quite a meaty mobile slasher, especially when you play as a Predator.

Predator: Hunting Grounds (2020)

  • Platforms: Windows, PS4

The IllFonic game is still very young compared to the other participants in this collection, because it was released in 2020. One of her great ideas is an asymmetric multiplayer that fits perfectly with the series, where one player can hunt the others as a Predator. His arsenal includes deadly weapons and “gadgets” (if you can call them that) that you might see in movies and other games. Other users are invited to confront the Predator in a team.

Cameos and appearances in other games

Mortal Kombat X

  • Platforms: Windows, PS4, Xbox One

In the spectacular and tough fighting game Mortal Kombat X, there was a place not only for the “backbone” of the beloved heroes, but also for guests politely invited to mortal combat in the form of official DLC. Those visitors include Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th), Leatherface (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre), Alien and, of course, our favorite Predator.

No one bothers to reproduce the classic battle between the Predator and the Alien, but you should not limit yourself to this, because a dangerous hunter is able to get even with any fighter. In his attacks and combos, he uses claws and other equipment, and when performing finishing moves, he is cruel like in any of the above games.

Fortnite Battle Royale

  • Platforms: Windows, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, macOS, iOS, Android, Switch

Curiously, after Mortal Kombat X, where our bloodthirsty hero looked quite appropriate, he jumped into the family Fortnite, or rather, into the “royal battle” mode in the form of an exclusive skin for the character. However, if you don’t want to buy it from the in-game store, in order to become a Predator you need to find it on the map and defeat it, which is quite in the spirit of the original universe.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands

  • Platforms: Windows, PS4, Xbox One

The Predator should feel right at home in the thick jungle that Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands roams through.

In a special free add-on to the game, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the original 1987 film, players have the opportunity to try to defeat the alien alone or with the help of friends. You could also get special accessories and weapons that allowed you to cosplay the hero Schwarzenegger and other characters, and as a trophy you could take the very Predator mask to scare enemies with it when you return to the main game. The only downside is that it was a temporary event that lasted only a couple of weeks, and in the later Ghost Recon Breakpoint, the developers decided not to repeat this practice.

The future of the series

After the relative success of 2022’s Prey, which is essentially a prequel as it takes place in 18th century unconquered America, there have been a few fleeting rumors about a video game project, but they also subsided quickly. Also, in the context of the news about the possible third part of the Alien vs. Predator movie crossover, the game is periodically discussed, but for a start, the production of the film must at least begin, which still does not happen due to various circumstances.

With 10 years between the last and penultimate Predator games, don’t expect anything new to come out anytime soon. Therefore, we are left with the aforementioned classics, and have a very modest hope for a triumphant return of the franchise.

A small review of the Acer Predator large computer

This computer is eye-catching to say the least. And as a maximum – gives heat.
Before you – a gaming computer – Acer Predator (Predator):

Dimensions: 490x430x190 mm
Weight: 15 kg
Model: Aspire Predator G7760
Processor: Intel Core i7 2600K
RAM: 12GB DDR3
Hard disk: SSD (64 GB) + HDD (1 TB)
Chipset: intel Z68
Video card: 2x nVidia GTX560Ti
Network: 10/100/1000 Mbps
Drive: DVD-RW, as well as Blu-ray drive.
Number of USB ports: 12 pcs.
Operating system: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
Set: PC, mouse, keyboard
Country of manufacture: Hungary

In general, it’s already good, for a home computer it’s cool. It all works very smoothly and quickly.

Outwardly, it looks like this: a huge shiny black metallic case with orange inserts (also plastic). It looks impressive, but the “visor” of the front panel gives a special shine.

Opened on the front panel are available: two drives (DVD-RW, Blu-Ray), a card reader, as well as a hard drive compartment.

When closed, everything is elegant and stylish.

Steep ventilation grilles complete the predator look.

There is a bunch of connectors on the back wall – enough for everyone. As well as connectors for two video cards. 8 monitors can be connected directly. And how much through the Display Port – count for yourself.

By the way, they did not deprive the PS / 2 connectors, although the bundled keyboard and mouse are USB. The BIOS reset button placed on the rear panel is also pleasing. Suddenly you wind something wrong? But the machine has overclocking – you can increase the processor frequency, memory voltage, smoothly change almost all cooling parameters.
Only two USB 3.0 ports are upsetting (it would be possible to make 6).

The internals of the apparatus are as follows:

Plenty of room for upgrades.

Placement of hard drives deserves a special mention. They sit in a separate compartment, with their carriages. Each hard drive can be hot-swapped (just like in server cases).

As I already wrote, there are two drives. They open very effectively – revealing a kind of “claws” of a predator.

Power button – triangular chrome, with indication of the network, hard drive, as well as, in fact, power.

The included keyboard and mouse require special attention. This is not a “fuck off”-kit. This is a really good keyboard and mouse!
The keyboard is compact, with an interesting feature: the arrow keys are located on the us-keyboard. Switching from numpad to arrows is done with a special button.

The mouse is also cool. Backlit and lots of buttons.

Yes, even the USB connectors of manipulators are already worth a lot!

The system is based on a Core i7 2600K processor (4 cores, 8 threads, up to 3.8 GHz, 32nm, 95W TDP) and 12 gigabytes of RAM.

The storage medium is a combination of SSD and a conventional hard drive (7200 rpm).

Undoubtedly, windows 7 liked it all:

Synthetic tests show consistently high results:

Pieces of iron react effortlessly to the load. I did not manage to load the processor and score the memory.

Perhaps I should have played, encoded video and watched FullHD remixes at the same time.
Warm and burn this all does not give liquid cooling.

Operating system Windows 7 Home Premium x64.
Only proprietary utilities, mouse and keyboard drivers, and antivirus are installed from the vendor. No trash. Everything is for you.
Mouse and keyboard drivers help you customize them to your taste.
