When reviewed, we praised the Capsule’s “neat design, solid sound and access to streaming services”. Its resolution of 854 x 480 pixels is par for the course when it comes to miniature projectors. A brightness of 100 lumens means you will need a dimly lit room. Not perfect but it’s the best mini around.

Epson Home Cinema 1080 HD projector $750 $699 at Crutchfield (Save $50)
Not one we’ve tested but the 1080 is an upgrade on the 1060. There’s a boost to brightness and contrast, up to 3600 lumens from 3100, and now stated at 16,000:1 instead of 15,000:1. It sounds well worth the small extra spend.

This 4K HDR Epson provides almost everything you could need of an entry level machine. Its natural motion handling, well-balanced colours and excellent abilities with contrast go a very long way indeed. This is an exceptional budget projector.
Epson Home Cinema 3200 4K projector $1500 $1300 at Amazon (save $200)
Epson’s Home Cinema 32000 is even cheaper than the 3800, making it an even more tempting entry-level 4K projector – especially with $200 off the usual asking price.

Samsung’s portable projector takes the fun on the go, with integrated streaming apps and a compact form factor that means you can take this mini projector anywhere.
Samsung The Premiere LSP7T $3500 $2500 at Best Buy (save $1000)
If the LSP9T below is a little big for your budget, Samsung’s more reasonable UST offers a very decent compromise without having to miss out on the brilliant Tizen OS and the very handy aerial socket for terrestrial TV.

This is one of the most premium UST projectors around at the moment. Bright enough to use for daytime viewing and, with both a smart platform and an aerial socket, it is fully kitted out for streaming services and live TV as well as any HDMI devices.

Not one we have tested, but this UST projector deal is hard to ignore with such a large price cut. It uses three separate lasers to create a 120in 4K image and has a 40W Dolby Atmos sound system built in.
