Why did I get a message about changing my SIM card?

  • T-Mobile is committed to being the leader in 5G. Largest. Fastest.. This means we are regularly rolling out new technology to enhance and grow our 5G network.
  • While your current SIM card is 5G compatible, it is not capable of using the 5G standalone technology we recently rolled out.
  • Changing your SIM card will help to ensure you get more 5G in more places when using a compatible device, such as indoors and in rural locations, and will make sure you’re ready to take advantage of future network enhancement.

What to do

  • If you have the SIM card that came with your 5G device, you just need to activate it.
  • If you no longer have the SIM that came with your 5G device, contact us or stop by a store for a replacement SIM.
    For your security, the account holder or an authorized user must make the request.

What is Standalone 5G?

What it does

Standalone architecture is the future of wireless connectivity. It will help bring 5G closer to reaching its true potential with:

FAQs

I’m already using 5G on my phone, why do I need to change my SIM?

T-Mobile recently launched new 5G standalone technology which will enable our customers to get more 5G in more places when using a compatible SIM and device. The SIM card you are using is not compatible with this new 5G standalone technology. You’ll want to update your SIM to ensure you can get the best network experience.

Will I get better 5G coverage once I change my SIM?

Changing your SIM will help to ensure you can access both our Standalone and Non-Standalone 5G when using a compatible device. While you may not experience an immediate difference, this will ensure that you benefit from ongoing enhancements we will be making to our 5G network over the years.

What is Standalone 5G vs. Non-Standalone?

Non-standalone (NSA) relies on a mid-band LTE signal to access the 5G network. The device must connect to both LTE AND 5G. Standalone (SA) operates independently of the LTE network. With SA, the device connects to LTE OR 5G, whatever is the appropriate core network. SA allows full access to the benefits of 5G without the limitations of legacy LTE.

Who is eligible for Standalone 5G? Will I have to change my plan or pay more?

Customers’ T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile plans include access to 5G (SA and NSA) at no extra cost.

Are there any technical requirements to access SA 5G besides a compatible SIM?

Yes, your device must receive a software update from the manufacturer to work on 5G SA. All 5G capable devices will eventually be sent the software update; for some devices this has already happened while others will come at a later date. T-Mobile doesn’t currently have information from the manufacturers to know when.

If your devices haven’t received the update yet, it will still work great on our LTE network and on the Non-Standalone (NSA) 5G coverage, so you will have 5G when you travel to other locations. Once the software update is available, you’ll pick up the new 5G technology at your location too!

What benefits can I expect with Standalone 5G?

SA is a major milestone as it’s essential to unlocking truly transformational 5G in the future. Currently, Standalone 5G allows T-Mobile to expand 5G coverage and performs similar to NSA that already exists today. Down the road, Standalone 5G is expected to deliver the capacity, data speeds, and lower latency that will fuel future innovation. As 5G apps and innovations are introduced, they will be optimized on Standalone 5G technology.

Is standalone 5G faster than Non-Standalone?

Currently, Standalone 5G performs similar to NSA that already exists today. Down the road, Standalone 5G is expected to deliver the capacity, data speeds, and lower latency that will fuel future innovation. As 5G apps and innovations are introduced, they will be optimized on Standalone 5G technology.

Is Standalone the only 5G coverage on the T-Mobile network?

No, the majority of our nationwide 5G network is on NSA. We have started lighting up Standalone 5G in select areas and will roll out additional SA as we continue to expand the T-Mobile 5G network.

Where can I access Standalone 5G? Can I check it on your coverage map?

We’ve just started rolling out SA so it’s only available in select areas. The coverage map shows our nationwide 5G footprint so you’ll notice the expanded 5G coverage, especially in some rural areas and indoor locations where there wasn’t 5G coverage before. The map does not, however, distinguish SA from NSA. A T-Mobile care or retail sales associate can help identify if there’s SA in your area – if you’d like to learn more, please visit a T-Mobile retail store or call 611 on your mobile device.

Can Sprint customers with a 5G capable device access Standalone 5G?

Sprint 5G devices cannot access our newest Standalone 5G technology. These devices can, however, access our Nationwide 5G (NSA) coverage.

Can Metro customers with a 5G device access Standalone 5G?

Yes, customers on Metro by T-Mobile who meet the technical requirements can access Standalone 5G.

Capable device required; coverage not available in some areas. While 5G access won’t require a certain plan or feature, some uses/services might. Check Coverage details, Terms and Conditions, and Open Internet information for network management details (like video optimization) at T-Mobile.com.

Do you have a prepaid phone? If so, you must register it with your first and last name. You can do it very easily – we will show you what you need to do to register your card with the most popular Polish mobile networks.

SIM card registration is now mandatory – each “card number” must be registered, i.e. the owner. This is ensured by the anti-terrorist act of June 20, 2016. This applies to both new starters that we will be buying in the future, as well as existing prepaid numbers. Even if you use your pre-paid phone without registering, you must remember that if you do not register by the end of January 2017, your number will simply be disconnected.

This is not only a problem for users, but also for operators. Polish networks want to motivate their customers to register as soon as possible. To do this, operators offer many promotions and bonuses for registering a SIM card. Below you will find information on how to register on the Polish networks Orange, Play, Plus and T-Mobile.

What data do I have to provide when registering a SIM card?

When registering, please provide your first and last name and your PESEL number. We will also write down the ID / ID number that we will provide at check-in.

What documents are required to register your SIM card?

You need an identification card. If we have reached the age of majority, it is enough to provide proof of identity (this can be, for example, a passport or driver’s license).

If we are between the ages of 13 and 18, we can register if we have a document that proves our identity. For school age who do not have an identity card or passport, such proof may be the school identification number.

Persons under the age of 13 cannot register, even with ID. You must bring a guardian (usually one of the parents) with you.

1. Registration of the SIM card in Orange

In Orange, the registration card must be done in person. You need to contact the nearest facility that supports card registration in the Orange network. Interestingly, we can register not only in Orange stores, but also in other chains. Orange registration points available in:

  • Orange sockets
  • RUCH kiosks and showrooms
  • Media Expert, Media Markt and Saturn stores
  • Polish post

you can use the interactive map to find the right place in your area. Once you find the right point, the next step is to go to it along with a SIM card, ID card or passport.

At the time of registration, please complete the form where we will provide your first and last name, PESEL number and phone number. The card will be registered a few hours after the application is approved.

If you are not sure if your number has already been registered, you can check it. Send a free SMS with the number “to” 80190. You will receive a message with information about the registration status of your number.

Additional BONUS after registration:

After successful registration, you are eligible to receive a 1000-minute prize for all networks and 10 GB for the Internet. To do this, send a free SMS with the text BONUS to 80028. More information about the promotion can be found at orange .

2. Registering a SIM card in Play

In the case of the game, the manual is also not complicated. First, it’s a good idea to check if your number is registered. You can check the registration status by selecting the corresponding number on the telephone keypad. Launch the Phone app by dialing the number and enter the following number:

* 111 * 49 * 1 #

Your phone will display a network message indicating whether the number has already been registered or not. If not, registration can be done in two ways. In person, when we do not have a registered number in PLAY or through the Internet, when we have another number registered in PLAY.

  • Registration for people who do not have any service registered on their behalf in PLAY

If we do not have another service in PLAY that is subscribed to our name and the number on the card comes first, registration must be done in person. Go to your nearest PLAY point, post office, or RUCH kiosk. Don’t forget to take your SIM card and ID with you.

You will receive a form on site in which you must enter your first and last name, PESEL, and ID data (eg serial number and ID number). The application will be sent securely to the operator and upon successful review, your number will be registered in your data.

  • Registration for people who have other services in PLAY

If you already have any services in PLAY, your card number can be connected to the same data that we provided, for example, when signing a contract to subscribe to another number.

In this case, you only need to make a toll-free number 730-300-300 from a phone registered with PLAY and register with a consultant who will request a prepaid phone number. Our prepaid card will immediately be registered for the same data for which we have a registered subscriber phone.

Additional BONUS after registration:

When our number is registered with PLAY, we can additionally receive special bonuses on it in the form of PLN 100, which will be used for calls and SMS, 10 GB for Internet and annual number extension. To do this, enter * 111 * 300 * 1 # into your phone. Detailed information about the offer and conditions for receiving the bonus is contained in the rules on the website PLAYBACK .

3. Registering a SIM card in T-Mobile / Heyah / tuBiedronka

T-Mobile registration is similar to other operators. First check if our number is registered. To do this, call the on-screen keyboard in the Phone application and enter the following code:

* 100 #

The registration status will appear. If it turns out that we do not need to register, follow the steps below. As with PLAY, T-Mobile also offers different registration methods depending on whether you already have any services registered in your name.

  • Registration for people who do not have any other services on T-Mobile

Here, the matter is simple: you must personally go to the T-Mobile salon or the nearest kiosk / RUCH hall, taking with you SIM card and ID.

On the website, fill out the form and enter your first name, last name and PESEL number, and write data confirming the validity of your identifier (for example, serial number and identification number). After a positive review of the form, our number will be activated under our name.

  • Registration for people who already have some T-Mobile services on their behalf

If, for example, you have another T-Mobile number with a subscription contract signed for you, you can migrate your data from this contract to your prepaid number. You can do this by phone, call 606 606 606 or by yourself using the Miboa.pl website or the My T-Mobile app.

Depending on the method chosen, you must verify your identity in a certain way, and then create a request to add a number to the card for your data from a subscription agreement for another service.

Additional BONUS after registration:

After registering using any of the above methods, we can use a special bonus. T-Mobile offers its users a MaxCom MM237 Dual SIM mobile phone for PLN 19. The condition for receiving the device at this price is registration and topping up your account with PLN 100. Details of the promotion on the site T-Mobile .

4. Registering a SIM card in Plus

People who use a Plus card number can register in the same way as people on other networks. First of all, check if our number is registered. To do this, send an SMS with the text STATUS under the number 80104. You will receive a message with registration information.

If it turns out that your number requires registration, you can do this in two ways. If you already have other services on the Plus network, you can add a number to the card for the same data you signed up for, such as a different subscription contract. However, if you don’t have any other services on Plus, you must register in person.

  • Registration for people who do not have any services at Plus

If you do not have any services with this operator, you must go to the nearest Plus point, Cyfrowy Polsat salon or kiosk RUCH networks. Take your SIM card and ID with you.

Fill out the registration form on site, providing your first name, last name and PESEL number, as well as details that confirm the authenticity of your identity card, passport, school ID or other document that you have. After successful consideration of the application, the card will be registered.

  • Registration for people who already have a Plus subscription number

If you already have a Plus subscription number, you can register from the comfort of your home. All you have to do is send a free SMS with the desired content from the subscription number to register the card number for the same data.

Register already working number on the card and add it to your data from the subscription agreement, please send SMS with the number 80106 with the following content:

DONE XXXXXXXX

Instead of XXXXXXXXX, enter the phone number of the card you want to register.

In turn, if you have a new, non-activated starter , then you can activate it and register at the same time using the Plus subscription number. To do this, send SMS under the number 80106 with the following content:

ZAREJESTRUXX XXXXXXXXX YYYYYYYYYYYYY

XXXXXXXXX is the prepaid phone number and YYYYYYYYYGEL is the SIM identification number you will find on the launch pad. After sending the above SMS from the subscription number to Plus, you will activate your new number on the card and automatically register it for the same data for which the subscription number is registered.

Additional BONUS after registration:

After registration, we will have access to a promotion in the form of an attractive transfer from a prepaid number to a subscription offer with keeping the number. If we choose to do so, as part of this offer we will receive calls and unlimited SMS messages to all networks, as well as 8 GB per month per month. The first three months are free and then we pay 29złoty per month. You can find more information on the Plus website.

If you have any questions, we encourage you to ask them in the comments. We will try to dispel all doubts as soon as possible.

Where to buy and how to register a SIM card?

There shouldn’t be any problems with buying a starter pack in Poland. SIM cards are sold almost everywhere:

  • At supermarket checkouts;
  • Post office;
  • Newsstands;
  • Minimarkets like Zabka.

Please note that according to Polish law, each SIM card must be officially registered to its owner. To do this, when buying a starter pack, you need to provide the seller with an identity document (for example, a passport) and ask him to register. To say your request in Polish, say “Proszę zarejestrować kartę sim”. This process takes several minutes, after which the card is considered active.

If you bought the card earlier but did not register it, you can still contact the point of sale where you are required to register free of charge.

Can I switch to T-Mobile from another carrier while keeping my old number?

The transition from competitors is not only possible, but also welcomed by bonuses in the form of free use of the package during the first month. To do this, you need to go to the official T-Mobile website and follow the instructions. Or just click here to be on the right page.

How to choose the right tariff?

Each client must proceed from his needs, choosing the best tariff for himself. Below we describe the most popular options.

25 PLN per month

The service package includes only communication and internet within Poland. Calls abroad are billed separately.

Payment – 25 PLN;

Calls to all mobile operators – unlimited;

Messages – unlimited;

MMS – no;

Internet – 10 GB;

Tariff valid for 30 days;

Transition code – *140*265#

25 + PLN 5 per month

For an additional PLN 5, the client is provided with MMS messages and viewing videos on specific resources (the list of resources will be published below).

Payment – 30 PLN;

Calls to all mobile operators – unlimited;

Messages – unlimited;

MMS – unlimited;

Internet – 10 GB;

Viewing videos on specific resources – unlimited;

5 PLN for 5 days

Payment – 5 PLN;

Calls to all mobile operators – unlimited;

Messages – unlimited;

MMS – unlimited;

Internet – 1 GB;

Viewing videos on specific resources – unlimited;

Tariff valid for 5 days;

Transition code – *150*161*2#

On what resources can I watch videos without restrictions?

How to buy additional services?

In all of the above tariffs, calls and messages are provided to the client without restrictions. Therefore, there may be a need only for the purchase of additional megabytes of the Internet.

How do I top up my T-Mobile account?

Recharge cards are sold at the same kiosks as starter packs. The only caveat is that the sim cards are on display and the buyer can simply point at them with his hand if he does not know the language. But how to buy a “replenisher”? Everything is very simple. Remember the phrase that you need to say to the store employee: “Proszę doładowanie dla T-Mobile na X złotych” (X is the desired replenishment amount).

Another option is to top up at official T-Mobile stores. Contact the store employee, and he will definitely help you.

And, perhaps, the most common option is payment via the Internet. However, we recommend that you only fund your account through the T-Mobile website, as other resources may be fraudulent. Click here to go to the official site.

What useful codes do you need to know?

To make sure your mobile number is active, enter *100#

To contact the operator – *9602

Balance check – *101#

To check the remaining Internet – *100*860*1#

What do you need to connect to the Internet?

Today all tariffs include free internet megabytes. When megabytes run out, you can buy them extra. If, after activating the tariff, the Internet does not connect, then most likely there are problems in the phone settings. To fix them, you must either go to the T-Mobile website and follow the step-by-step instructions, or go to the official T-Mobile store. Contact a member of staff with a request, and he will fix the problem within a few minutes.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of T-Mobile?

Frankly speaking, this mobile operator has only one significant drawback:

  • When checking the balance, 0.05-0.10 zl is withdrawn.

As for the advantages, there are many more:

  • High-quality communication even outside the city;
  • Variety of tariffs;
  • Low cost of service;
  • Constant availability of technical support;

Pins

Mobile operator T-Mobile provides its customers with favorable tariffs for little money. As a result, each user can receive high-speed Internet, messages and calls.
