The best mmofps: The best MMORPG and top MMOs you should play 2023

The best MMORPG and top MMOs you should play 2023

What is the best MMORPG on PC? If you’re wondering, those oft-used letters represent the words Massively Multiplayer Online, and refer to games where thousands of players come together in the same world. Is it one with spells to sling and demons to slay? Working your way through the stars as a miner or a corporate bigwig? Solving ancient conspiracies and fighting Lovecraftian horrors? Maybe it’s all of them.

Ultimately, the deciding factor for the best MMORPGs on PC largely comes down to personal preference, so with that in mind, here’s our list of the top MMOs currently alive and kicking. You’re sure to find something that will swallow up entire days at a time, and many of these entries can also be considered some of the best PC games around. While there are plenty of new MMOs to consider, the golden oldies on this list have withstood the test of time.

Here are our top picks for the best MMORPG:

Neverwinter

Neverwinter is a surprise. It is thematically Dungeons & Dragons, taking the places, classes, spells, and abilities from the tabletop game, and then cramming them inside one of the best MMORPGs. It should not work, but somehow it does. It helps that there is an earnest love for the source material, and each quest feels like one you could imagine yourself embarking upon while sitting around a table.

Lots of free expansions – which include new races and classes – have been introduced in the time since Neverwinter launched, taking players far from the safety of Neverwinter itself, to lands like Icewind Dale, where barbarians and unpleasant temperatures are the least of your worries.

Word of warning, though: unless you approach the game casually, you will probably have to spend money. It is become increasingly difficult to play for free, though certainly not impossible.

Star Trek Online

Miss Star Trek on TV? Star Trek Online might just tide you over until Discovery reappears on Paramount Plus. Each quest in this MMO is like an episode of the show, and each mission series is an arc, complete with the occasional filler episode.

Take a trip to Risa, visit DS9 in Star Trek Online, land on planets and practise your diplomacy, or get into tense space battles with Cardassians, Romulans, Borg, and whoever else is causing mischief. Space fights are tactical, while playing out in real-time, as it’s key to position your ship to get the most out of your firing arcs. On any away missions that devolve into combat, the game turns into a squad-based third-person shooter, complete with ability cooldowns.

Despite a rocky start, STO has grown into a gargantuan, compelling, and free MMO and one of the best space games out there; it’s frequently expanded by massive updates that add whole new storylines, and a while back the neutral Romulan faction introduced unique missions and ships.

Speaking of ships, that’s what really sets this game apart from other MMOs. You’re not just outfitting and levelling up a hero, you get a whole crew and a starship to manage and customise.

Romans: Age of Caesar

Do you like a bit of city-building in your MMOs? If so, you’re going to love Romans: Age of Caesar as it’s a game that tasks you with helping to rebuild the Roman Empire. You’ll be working cooperatively with up to 16 other players and together you’ll have to build and maintain a city.

As you play, loads of other groups of players will be working on their own cities, and together you all form part of a large, interconnected digital empire. Sometimes you’ll need to do battle to defend yourself from oncoming barbarians, and sometimes you’ll have to create trade routes so that you can establish relationships with the other cities. There’s a lot to this game, and it’s easy to get sucked into its world.

Wizard101

Looking to lose yourself in an MMO with a nuanced storyline and deep battle system? Well, look no further than Wizard101. This game sees you playing as a student in the Ravenwood School for Magical Arts and you have to decide whether you want to enrol in the school for Fire, Ice, Storm, Myth, Life, Death, or Balance – each one will allow your character to learn and develop different magical abilities, all of which will drastically affect how you approach battles.

You’ll end up travelling around the fantastical world of the Spiral which, in true video game fashion, involves locales that range from winter wonderlands, to arid deserts and countless other environments. The game’s storyline involves you coming up against the school’s former necromancy teacher, Malistaire. While at first, he might seem a bit of a generic evil wizard, you’ll soon find that his motivations are much more interesting.

Final Fantasy XIV

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is a story of heartwarming redemption. When it originally released, it was not very good. In fact, it was terrible. This triggered Square Enix to take drastic action – ditch the old team, hire a new team and remake Final Fantasy XIV in its entirety.

The outcome is A Realm Reborn. And it is good. It hits everything the series is known for: epic stories of good and evil duking it out, varied, painfully gorgeous environments, over-the-top characters, flashy cutscenes, and Chocobos galore. It is also clever: players have a great deal of flexibility within their FFXIV classes. As soon as you hit level 10, you gain the ability to switch to any of the games eight combat classes at just the switch of the weapon. The upside is that players do not need to create alts to try out other roles.

The Endwalker expansion adds new jobs (the Reaper and the Sage), locations, instances, and the long-requested male version of the Viera race. However, it’s the story that takes centre stage, concluding the events that began back in A Realm Reborn. Few MMOs receive as many quality updates and expansions, so it’s worth hopping back in if you’ve been away for a while. If you want to find out more, check out our FFXIV Endwalker review. It’s also well worth checking out our FFXIV leveling guide if you’re new to the JRPG game.

Lost Ark

The hit Korean MMO has finally made it to western shores and we get to see what all the fuss is about. Lost Ark has been described as “what if Diablo was an MMO?” with over a million players flocking to Amazon’s latest project to find out the answer.  You can read our Lost Ark review to catch up on our full thoughts.

Unfortunately, all of these curious new players are putting a bit of strain on the Lost Ark servers, but we understand queues move relatively quickly. If you’re thinking of checking the game out, we’ve got some guides that can help: from how to level up quickly, to what you need to know about Lost Ark gold and mokoko seeds.

World of Warcraft

Over a decade old and still the most popular MMORPG game in the world, World of Warcraft is a bit special. During its long reign, WoW has changed a lot, introducing a number of new classes and races; just check out our WoW Dragonflight tier list for a glimpse at the most powerful character combinations that are now possible. Over the years, players have also been treated to a graphics overhaul, whole new continents… players can even travel back in time. The world is enormous, and teeming with rich, story-laden quests at every turn.

At times it seems traditional, which is unsurprising considering it is the MMO that defined the modern style of the genre, but Blizzard is still mixing things up. The WoW Dragonflight talents system overhaul provides welcome class complexity that’s guaranteed shake up the meta, along with revamps to professions and UI that are sure to blow the cobwebs off Blizzard’s venerable RPG game. WoW’s longevity means there’s great third-party support, with innumerable WoW addons to assist you on your journey. If we had to crown an MMO as king of the genre, World of Warcraft would likely be it.

Runescape

Like World of Warcraft, Runescape has been a staple of the MMORPG genre for as long as we can remember. But rather than dwindle, Runescape continues to grow in terms of both players and content. New quests and events are introduced on an almost weekly basis so that veterans always have something fresh to experience, while new players enter a world already enriched by a decade of lore and adventures.

Don’t worry about getting to grips with Runescape either as its community are among the most generous and friendly in all gaming (or you can check out our Runescape beginner’s guide) – whether you’re looking for advice on a tricky quest or simply after a chat, you’ll find help is always at hand. It’s not just history that Runescape boasts either, with major expansions, a mobile release, and countless spin-offs, Jagex’s MMO shows absolutely no signs of stopping.

Black Desert Online

Black Desert Online received a graphics overhaul in 2018 to remaster the original (and already gorgeous) MMO, breathing new life into the game. For what it lacks in polished dialogue, it certainly makes up for it with one of the best character creators around and a gorgeous fantasy world that you’ll want to roam around in for hours.

Just don’t get too comfy as there’s plenty of fighting and grinding, so if you’re looking for a relaxing MMO, this may not be the game for you. As Black Desert Online isn’t your average MMO, it can be tricky to get your head around the new systems, especially how combat, trade, diplomacy, and resources work. Check out our beginners guide to Black Desert Online if you’re keen to jump into this MMO brimming with sword fights and fiery chaos.

Eve Online

There’s a good chance that you’ve already heard about one of the many tales of dark bastardry that have spun out of Eve’s New Eden. It is a game of cold-hearted betrayal, mining, economics, more betrayal, more mining, and the occasional thousand-person spaceship battles – the latter of which has earned the game several Guinness world records.

With CCP’s hands-off approach, the universe of New Eden is one of the most player-driven MMOs in existence. Wars span weeks, if not months, across multiple systems. Years of plotting and sabotage to bring huge corporations down from the inside. Reports of huge losses in ships and cargo, some reaching the thousands of dollars in real world value. As you can imagine, it is not the easiest game in the world to learn, but that doesn’t mean it is impossible. Our own Eve Online beginner’s guide will show you how to set up in one of the best MMOs around.

Elder Scrolls Online

Despite a rocky beginning, The Elder Scrolls Online remains a strong entry for one of the best MMORPGs on PC. The Elder Scrolls games are among the best RPGs around and now you can sink even more of your time into the series’ rich and vibrant universe by playing online with friends or total strangers.

Set 1,000 years before Skyrim and 800 years before Morrowind and Oblivion. The Elder Scrolls Online begins in Coldharbour’s Wailing Prison where, staying true to Elder Scrolls tradition, the player is a prisoner. After escaping you are free to explore the continent of Tamriel, battling monsters, discovering dungeons, and crafting weapons with fellow adventurers or on your own. With a handful of expansions bringing old and new regions into the game like Murkmire and Summerset, not to mention plenty of planned future DLC releases, the Elder Scrolls Online universe is forever expanding making for an MMO that always feels fresh.

Destiny 2

In Destiny 2, you take on the role of a righteous and stalwart Guardian, defending the last city of humanity against anyone or anything that would seek to destroy it. As with most action MMOs, you begin by creating your Guardian, customising their face, hair, and body to your satisfaction. There are three classes to choose from – the shield-bearing Titan, spell-slinging Warlock, and agile Hunter. Each class comes with their own unique abilities, along with perks and upgrades to differentiate yourself from other players of your Destiny 2 class.

Once you’ve decided on your character, you’re let loose to explore the solar system, uncovering its secrets through engaging missions that you can complete solo or with friends. The valuable loot you can uncover on your travels is vital to improving your Guardian’s equipment, but Destiny 2’s story is where it truly shines. Its ever-expanding world is constantly receiving updates, including seasons, events, and expansions, and it shows no signs of slowing down any time soon. Take a gander at our Destiny 2 Lightfall review, as well as the full list of the Lightfall exotics you can expect to pick up while hitting Lost Sector locations. If you’d prefer to stick to the main campaign for the time being, we’ve also got a complete Destiny 2 Lightfall mission list to keep steer you in the right direction.

Trove

Trove is an action-focused MMO, most often compared to games similar to Minecraft and one of the best building games on PC. Firstly you’ll need to build a base, a home from home, where you can fashion all sorts of creatures, weapons, and items. Once your homebase is established, you’ll be able to zip between worlds and loot dungeons and go on quests online with your friends or guild pals. Trove’s dedicated community are always updating and bringing the best mods to Trove, so there’s always something to do whether you’re improving your base or looting with your online buddies.

ArcheAge

ArcheAge can be a very traditional MMO, with quests, factions, and a completely forgettable story. But what makes it one of the best MMORPGs is that you can ignore all of that and head into the sea.

The ocean is huge. To sail from east to west in the fastest ship in the game can take anywhere between 45 minutes and an hour depending on dangers like storms, whirlpools, sea creatures, or pirates. There is even a legendary Kraken that dwells in the northern ocean, and it takes an entire raid of 40+ players and ten galleon-sized ships, cannons blazing, to even scratch it. Deep under the ocean you can find shipwrecks filled with delicious bounty, the hardest of which requires diving gear to reach.

ArcheAge is free to play, with a premium subscription available that offers several perks, including the ability to claim your own patch of land – not instanced, genuinely taking up space in the open world – on which you can build a house or even an underwater aquafarm full of fish. Alternatively, there is ArcheAge Unchained, a new separate version of the game that gives you access to all the perks of a subscription for a one-time fee.

Regardless of which version you choose, the fantastical world of ArcheAge is the perfect setting to embark upon a life of crime on the open seas, where you’re essentially playing a pirate game and everyone else is an unsuspecting sailor – but instead of a parrot, you’ve got a dragon.

Albion Online

If you’re looking for an MMO where you can sit back, relax, do a little crafting, and tend to your farm while popping out for the occasional fight and odd monster hunt, then Albion Online is not your game.

It’s PvP from the get go and for that reason you’ll always need to be alert and on-guard. The full-loot drop system can be slightly frustrating, but Albion Online demands players to be tactical and patient. It’s a lot of fun, and requires brain power and perseverance to steer your guild in the right direction, but it’s as rewarding as it is tough.

Lord of the Rings Online

Tolkien’s world of Middle-earth is a perfect setting for an MMO. It has great characters, a massive world to explore, and everyone is always fighting.

Humans, Elves, Dwarves, and Hobbits – aka the good guys – make up the playable races of Lord of the Rings Online, and as hunters or burglars or one of the other classes, you’ll go on your own adventure, half-following in the footsteps of the famous Fellowship. Meet Ents, get lost in Moria, or take long rides through Rohan.

Expansions push the story forward, following the books, and with each major plot point comes new mechanics, like the addition of mounted combat. If you have ever dreamed of experiencing Tolkien’s world first hand, then this MMORPG has you covered. Best of all, it is free-to-play, making it the perfect RPG MMO to play right now.

Star Wars: The Old Republic

A galaxy far, far away is the perfect setting for one of the best MMOs, so it is no surprise that BioWare’s Star Wars: The Old Republic is a winner. Play as one of eight classes, split across the Empire and Republic. Each has a detailed, dramatic story, and they are good. Surprisingly so.

You can take on the role of an Imperial Agent, working for the good of the Empire by rooting out terrorists; a Jedi Knight sworn to hunt Sith and protect the galaxy; or even a slave-turned-Sith Inquisitor, playing a dangerous game of politics. You can play all of this for free, but as a subscriber, you can level faster and concentrate solely on the interesting class and planetary quests instead of the trite filler rubbish.

Several expansions have kept it feeling reasonably fresh, but it is the excellent Knights of the Fallen Empire expansion that really deserves to be played. With its web of intrigue, relationships and a focus on player choice, it feels more like a proper Knights of the Old Republic sequel than anything that has come before it. SWTOR is easily one of the best Star Wars games ever.

Guild Wars 2

Where World of Warcraft is as traditional an MMO as they come, Guild Wars 2 is the weird, contrarian opposite. Its design can be seen as an attempt to fix and improve on every broken mechanic that online games persist in pursuing, and its success in these areas makes it one of the best MMORPGs you can play.

Guild Wars 2’s content is constantly evolving through the Living World episodic updates. Should you not be ready to meet that challenge, you can play lower-level adventures without spending a dollar, as the core game is now entirely free. If you’re curious, our Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons review will get you up to speed with the latest expansion, which pits players against the cataclysmic Elder Dragons.

World of Warcraft Classic

If you didn’t expect to see World of Warcraft on this list twice then you’re severely underestimating Blizzard’s juggernaut MMO. There are thousands of World of Warcraft veterans nostalgic for the charm and challenge of the vanilla game, and the launch of WoW Classic has granted their every wish. Based on the version of Azeroth pre-Cataclysm, WoW Classic is home to veterans and newbies alike, enjoying the sense of community that emerges by necessity when you remove dungeon finders and quest markers.

Access to the game is included with a standard World of Warcraft subscription. Even if you’re familiar with the modern game, it’ll take substantial adjustment to survive the notoriously difficult levelling experience of Classic. While some diehard fans might claim that spending hours on a WoW Classic dungeon, wiping against the final boss then running back to find that he’s despawned and can’t be summoned again is all part of the adventure, they probably just want you to suffer like they did. Instead, learn from their mistakes and prepare yourself thoroughly with our WoW Classic tips for new players. We also have guides for WoW Classic races, and the enviable WoW Classic legendary weapons you can obtain.

New World

New World is as much a sandbox survival game as it is a traditional RPG. It dispenses with the typical character creation of other fantasy MMOs – there are no other races aside from humans, and classes are replaced with attributes and skill systems that grant you the freedom to experiment with different character builds at your leisure. New World is set in an approximation of the 1600s, so while you can don burnished plate armour and cast spells with an elemental staff, you can also wield a musket or blunderbuss – just take a look at our New World weapons tier list for the full scope.

The newly discovered, hostile land of Aeternum is under threat of The Corrupted, a demonic horde whose presence must constantly be beaten back by the forces of good. You can choose to band together and help construct and maintain settlements, or strike off into the wilderness and face down the supernatural threat alone. You can craft, quest, and explore across Aeternum, and even wage war in large scale PvP conflicts as each New World faction’s territory expands and encroaches upon one another. If you’re looking to get started, our New World beginners guide and leveling guide will certainly help you find your footing.

And so concludes our list of the finest MMORPGs available to play on PC. What world you dive into next is entirely up to you. Will you go for one of the free MMOs, or will you be splashing out on a subscription? Regardless of your choice, know that the best multiplayer games are a ticket to new friends and, of course, new enemies. Pick your battles, create your clans, and head into a new adventure. Good luck!

WoW Dragonflight tier list – best classes for PvE and PvP

Our WoW Dragonflight tier list focuses on the best overall performance provided by classes in both PvP and PvE, whether you’re going solo or as part of a group. Every class in WoW has been subject to rebalancing over the course of the MMO’s lifetime, though some classes have felt the effects more than others. Whether you’re new to the game or a returning player, our tier list identifies which classes are dominating the WoW Dragonflight meta.

It’s worth noting before we begin that this WoW Dragonflight tier list presupposes that your character is performing as it should with respect to their class and spec. The WoW Dragonflight talents system overhaul now offers more class customisation than the MMORPG has seen in recent years, but it also means that your mileage may vary depending upon the talents you’ve chosen. If you’re running a suboptimal build for your class in World of Warcraft, you’re liable to have a very different view of where your class falls on our tier list.

WoW Dragonflight tier list

Our WoW Dragonflight tier list rankings are summarised in the table below, but keep scrolling for the full breakdown of the best WoW classes and their ideal spec.

Tier Character
S Affliction Warlock, Windwalker Monk
A Enhancement Shaman, Balance Druid, Frost Death Knight, Fire Mage
B Beast Mastery Hunter, Outlaw Rogue, Retribution Paladin
C Arms Warrior, Holy Priest, Havoc Demon Hunter, Devastation Evoker

S Tier

Affliction Warlock

Affliction Warlocks deal exceptional single-target damage, which is great for raid bosses and isolated PvP combat. Rather than calling on their demonic hordes or destructive spells, Affliction Warlocks prefer to leech the life out of their foes with abilities such as Agony and Corruption. Like the Hunter, the Warlock’s demonic pets are great for solo play by providing additional role support for any situation, from the tank-oriented Voidwalker to the crowd-controlling Sayaad. As with any class that relies on DoT casts, Affliction Warlocks take time to ramp, but as long as you can reach and maintain their high damage ceiling, you can expect to drain the health pools of your foes with ease. Affliction Warlocks are at the top of their game in WoW Dragonflight, and the de facto choice for damage-over-time casting.

Windwalker Monk

The Monk is a melee DPS powerhouse, delivering a volley of punches and kicks to multiple targets in quick succession. Windwalker Monks sport a suite of AoE abilities that can dispatch mobs with relative ease, but they have a long-standing reputation of falling short during one-on-one combat encounters. Thankfully, the class changes implemented in WoW Dragonflight make them viable in these situations as well, closing the gap between Windwalker Monks and other high-performing classes in PvE and PvP. Their mobility cannot be overstated, with skills like Roll and Flying Serpent Kick allowing for quick repositioning. They also bring incremental utility to groups, including passive healing, a boost to movement speed, as well as bonus avoidance from incoming AoE damage.

The Windwalker Monk’s extensive rotation revolves around the careful balance of Energy and Chi. Core abilities such as Tiger Palm generate Chi, which can then be spent on more powerful spells. This rotation is fairly straightforward, but careful management of cooldowns is essential in order to fully maximise the Windwalker Monk’s damage potential. If you’re sitting on capped Chi waiting for your cooldowns to tick over, you may place lower than expected on damage counters and other similar WoW addons.

A Tier

Balance Druid

Balance Druids – otherwise known as Boomkins – have been a mainstay class in the WoW meta since launch, and show no signs of slowing down. As indicated by their nickname, Balance Druids have an ostentatious kit that’s guaranteed to appeal to players who derive satisfaction from juggling cooldowns in a fast-paced rotation. Boomkins excel at applying damage over time to large groups, making them effective in both PvE and PvP. The time it takes for the Boomkin’s damage to ramp may leave them vulnerable to becoming overwhelmed, but they have some healing capabilities that can help see them through. They’re also capable of dishing out devastating burst damage with a combination of Ravenous Frenzy and Convoke the Spirits, which is a godsend during raids. Also, you can turn into a giant chicken.

Enhancement Shaman

The Shaman class has often borne the brunt of WoW’s ever-changing meta, experiencing soaring highs and crippling lows over the years. Thankfully, the talents system overhaul has catapulted Shamans back into the running as one of the best classes to play in WoW Dragonflight. The ability to switch talent loadouts at will is a boon for Shamans, since they have an extraordinarily versatile suite of abilities that allow them to adapt to most situations. Enhancement Shamans have also received a welcome boost to Maelstrom Weapon, the core buff in their rotation that provides a damage bonus to both ranged and melee attacks. Totems offer additional support that benefit both solo and group play, including off-healing, crowd control, and movement speed buffs. Finally, Feral Spirits is an ideal emergency button for crowd control, healing, or aggro redirection.

Frost Death Knight

The Death Knight has fallen out of favour in the RPG game in recent years, but with the welcome flexibility of the talents system overhaul, they’ve become a viable option once again. The Frost Death Knight is a robust melee DPS that excels in inflicting cleave damage upon single-target enemies. What’s more, there are plenty of optional passive talents that reinforce the Frost DK’s health and stamina pools; they might not be tanks, but they’re more than capable of soaking up damage in a pinch.

In terms of notable spells, Death Grip is the go-to cast for dragging squishier targets closer to you in both PvP and PvE, particularly long-range casters that prefer to stick to the backlines and cause trouble. The only major drawback of the Frost DK is their incredibly low mobility, though this can be remedied somewhat by their Death’s Advance movement buff. Finally, Death Knight is a hero class, meaning they start at level 55, putting you closer to WoW Dragonflight endgame content than most other classes.

Fire Mage

Fire Mage has always been a popular choice in WoW, and for good reason. They’re capable of channelling enormous amounts of burst damage with relatively minimal ramp – and let’s face it, raining literal fire down upon your enemies never gets old. Fire Mages continue to be a great option in WoW Dragonflight, with opportunities to stack talents that buff Pyroblast, a devastating component of the Fire Mage’s rotation. The major change to the Fire Mage’s kit concerns Mastery: Ignite, which now spreads via Fire Blast rather than Phoenix Flames, effectively granting a 13-second cooldown reduction for this DoT spread. Ultimately, if you’re a fan of big numbers flashing all over the screen, then Fire Mage is the one for you.

B Tier

Beast Mastery Hunter

The Hunter is by far and away the most accessible class available in WoW, and a perfect choice for beginners in the multiplayer game. Their rotations are straightforward and adaptable to all situations, and amassing a colourful stable of tamed beasts never loses its appeal. What’s more, your chosen pet may also serve as your very own portable tank, drawing aggro away from you and soaking up the attacks of heavy-hitting mobs, making the Hunter an excellent choice for solo play.

Beast Mastery Hunters are the most mobile ranged DPS class. Unlike spellcasters, who are often forced to remain in place for the duration of their cast time, Beast Mastery Hunters are capable of dishing out damage on the move. Their extraordinary mobility makes them capable of responding to threats quickly, and they’ve got a barrage of crowd control to draw on to keep mobs in dungeons and raids controlled. A Beast Mastery Hunter is a solid option for PvE and leveling in the upcoming expansion, so check out our guide on how to tame a Slyvern in WoW Dragonflight if you’re looking for a pet native to the Dragon Isles.

Outlaw Rogue

The Rogue is another versatile class that’s seen the benefit from the talents system overhaul. Outlaw Rogues in particular are capable of inflicting a phenomenal amount of cleave upon their foes – more than any other class in the game. Blade Flurry is the staple of the Outlaw Rogue’s playbook, which causes all single-target attacks to strike up to four nearby targets. This passive AoE is the only AoE to draw on, but it’s certainly reliable, especially when paired with the Dancing Steel talent. You can also expect a suite of mobility and utility to draw upon while playing solo and as part of a group, including shroud, evasion, and immunity effects. There’s even a gradual self-heal in the form of Crimson Vial for more direct survivability. Consequently, Outlaw Rogues are capable of going toe to toe with enemies in a variety of formats in both PvE and PvP, from the gladiatorial-style combat of arenas to complex raid boss encounters.

It’s worth bearing in mind that the Rogue class has a particularly fast-paced rotation that may prove overwhelming for new players, and if you struggle to keep up with your cooldowns you may find your performance flagging somewhat. If you’re a WoW veteran looking for a class that keeps your hotkeys burning, you’re certain to meet your match with the Outlaw Rogue.

Retribution Paladin

Retribution Paladins don’t have the best reputation in WoW. They’re a little like Shadow Priests, in the sense that they defy the expectation that all Paladins are good for is tanking. Retribution Paladins are a DPS-oriented spec that leave the Shadowlands expansion in a very good spot, and it looks like that’s set to continue through WoW Dragonflight. The majority of the damage dealt by the Retribution Paladin derives from AoE burst, and the core skills in their rotation generate the Holy Power necessary to unleash true divine justice, wielding the power of the Light… and a massive hammer.

Like Death Knights, Paladins suffer from low mobility to compensate for how robust they are, but they’ve got bags of utility to make up for it. Aside from their life-saving Divine Shield and 3% damage reduction passive, they can also bestow a number of blessings upon squishier members of their group, providing immunity and damage reduction. Retribution Paladins are also able to provide off-healing in a pinch, which is great for surviving during solo play or saving your group from a wipe in a dungeon or raid.

C Tier

Arms Warrior

Warriors are the vanilla flavour of damage-dealers: they may appear basic at first glance, but a true connoisseur can see the complexity lurking beneath. Instead of Mana or Energy, a Warrior’s primary resource is their Rage, which they generate during combat. This naturally leaves them on the back foot when engaging mobs, since their first priority is always resource generation. While they’ve got some defensive capabilities, Warriors lack the safety net provided by more versatile classes, going entirely without self-healing effects in their kit. All that being said, Warriors are an accessible class overall, and their straightforward rotations yield comparatively high damage-per-second. You can expect to comfortably tear through enemies below 35% health using Execute, helped along by the bleed effects inflicted by Deep Wounds and Rend. As long as you don’t spread yourself too thin, your Arms Warrior will live to fight another day.

Holy Priest

Holy Priest is the definitive healer in WoW, providing unparalleled single-target healing that’s a literal lifesaver in both PvE and PvP. They’ve also got a few robust AoE spells in their kit, such as Holy Word: Salvation and Divine Hymn, which can keep your group members on their feet while you triage accordingly. Holy Priests can dish out enough damage to hold their own when they’re in dire straits, but most of their defensive abilities take the form of debuffs. Thankfully, they do have an emergency button in the form of Leap of Faith. This instant spell pulls a member of your party member in front of them – either to remove them from harm, or enlist their help against close-range attackers.

The best course of action while leveling a Priest is to spec Shadow and then respec once you’ve hit max level. This will grant you enough damage-dealing proficiency for questing solo, as well as a nice change of pace to the heal-focused rotations you’ll be using as a Holy Priest.

Havoc Demon Hunter

Demon Hunters have seen notable class changes going into WoW Dragonflight, particularly given that this is the first time they’ve had access to an extensive talent tree. However, this additional choice comes at a cost, and oftentimes you may find yourself choosing between talents that cause DPS loss somewhere along the tree. Thankfully, the value of the Havoc Demon Hunter’s critical strike chance value is through the roof, especially when paired with talents such as Know Your Enemy and Critical Chaos. While their class-specific Double Jump and Glide make them exceptionally mobile and fun for solo play, they’re lacking in low-cost utility, though a cast-heavy group will certainly feel the benefit of Chaos Brand’s 5% magic damage buff.

Devastation Evoker

It’s not too surprising that the latest class to hit Blizzard’s MMO has yet to find its footing, since the vast majority of the classes in WoW Dragonflight are long established. The Evoker class is characterised by a suite of area-of-effect abilities, with signature spells like Eternity Surge and Deep Breath taking centre stage. The power of flight makes them incredibly agile, allowing you to traverse the battlefield in record time to save your allies, either by healing or repositioning them. Devastation Evokers can also stand to take a few knocks thanks to talents like Renewing Blaze and Obsidian Scales, which reduce and absorbs damage in an instant. Evokers haven’t quite found their groove yet, but their kit contains a lot of promise – hence why they’ve still made the list as one of the best WoW classes to play in Dragonflight.

The Evoker class is entirely unique to the Dracthyr race, so it’s worth acknowledging the draconic racial abilities that can bolster your Evoker kit. Tail Swipe and Wind Buffet are particularly notable, inflicting knockdown and disrupting enemy attacks. Dracthyr also provide excellent utility to party members, passively healing allies and boosting health regeneration.

That’s all we have for the WoW Dragonflight tier list. Our tier list excludes subpar class specialization, so we’ve neglected to extend it to D-tier and beyond – you can’t really go wrong with any of these picks. While we’re certain that Blizzard will continue to make class changes and tweak talent trees over time, we can’t see these tier list placements shifting too much in the future. If you’re diving into Dragonflight, be sure to appraise yourself of WoW console commands for some handy shortcuts.

    20 91 279

Dozens of new MMORPGs come out every year, but 10-20 “mastodons” known to everyone invariably remain in the ratings of the most popular ones. Most recently, this selection has been updated and finally supplemented with new online role-playing games that will definitely surprise you.

The collection was not compiled “from the lantern”, as is usually the case. The given MMORPGs were really compared according to a number of criteria, including reviews, update frequency, online, popularity, novelty, and others. The list is quite extensive.

How this compilation was created (games below)

When compiling the selection, Google Trends, Steam Charts, the Steam store (reviews), and even artificial intelligence (Perplexity AI) were used.

Previously, the most popular MMORPGs were taken as a “standard” and compared with the rest. In the new version of this year’s selection, emphasis was placed not only on relevance, but also on user ratings. This means that even if the game is extremely popular, it will be demoted in this rating. In the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t matter, because the reader expects to see the widest possible range of the best and most relevant MMORPGs today.

As a result, the following rating was created. It was based on both the size of the audience of games and their moods, as well as the frequency of content updates and the “freshness” of the last such update. Also, due to numerous requests from loyal commentators, less popular, but more classic must-have projects were added to the selection. It is important to emphasize that the compilation cannot be updated every day, and some data may be out of date. You can help improve it by providing useful information in the comments!

    Hottest MMORPGs in 2023

It is worth mentioning right away that not all of the listed games are strictly classic MMORPGs. This concept has been blurred by subgenres for many years, therefore, when compiling this collection, we understand by “MMORPG” any game where players can interact with each other, communicate in a global chat, level up their hero / heroes and improve skills, get in battles useful artifacts and invent fancy builds.

    New World

Amazon’s terribly ambitious game was dubbed the “killer of all MMORPGs” even before its release. Released on August 31, 2021. Interestingly, the first announcement took place back in 2016. Initially, it was planned to make the MMO Sandbox game out of the game, but then this idea was abandoned and they came to the traditional MMORPG. There will be legends about how many times gold dupe bugs were reduced there in the first 2 months… 😂 But, despite the mixed reviews on Steam, the game lives, blooms and smells! At the time of the last update, the selection online is about 18k players.

In the New World, the player will find a large open world with colorful graphics, NON-Target combat system with melee / firearms and magic. The game itself will be paid – buy and play. There are no items in the game store that affect the balance, which means that all players find themselves in plus or minus equal conditions at the start.

There is no traditional system of races, classes and professions in the game. As in Albion, a character’s class and profession are determined only by his equipment and parameters. In this case, you can use several types of weapons and skills at once, combining in one character, for example, a healer and an archer. The game has dynamic PVP, difficult dungeons and good character customization. Has New World become the killer of all MMORPGs? No. But you can play.

    PLAY NOW

    The Elder Scrolls Online

TESO is not a new game, but a huge number of people play it. And before you write angry comments in the style of “Fufufu, what kind of junk ?!”, you, dear reader, should know that there are 22k people online in this game.

It is worth mentioning right away that the game is paid and distributed according to the one-time purchase model. There’s a lot here that will be familiar to fans of the Elder Scrolls series. The game has good character customization, a large open world of Tamriel and a lot of leveling variability. The main disadvantage is the minimal attention to PVP.

Basically, the game is based on the role-playing component. The player will have to explore locations, complete interesting tasks, defeat unusual monsters. Also in TESO you can learn the craft to create high-quality equipment. Well, or become a criminal, as in the same Skyrim. According to the developers, the number of registrations in TESO has exceeded 18 million. , spears, and God knows what else. Represented? This is roughly the gameplay of Gloria Victis, a fresh medieval-style MMORPG that came out in early 2023. Despite the specificity of the genre and mixed reviews, the game retains its popularity: online according to Steam – 1500-1800 people, which is very good.

Players can choose different roles, from soldier to healer. Game features include: action-oriented combat without auto-targeting and large-scale PvP battles, territory capture and city / castle sieges. There is an “innovative” partial loot system with the ability to choose items for loot, a player-driven economy, free character development without classes, and equipment customization among hundreds of available items. The game offers a vibrant open world and freedom of choice, allowing players to determine the path of their character on their own.

    PLAY NOW

    STALCRAFT

Here is a fresh MMORPG about the Zone from Russian developers. No, not about the zone in which they sit … About the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, which players will be able to explore in the role of cute stalkers with square heads. It’s not entirely clear why Steve was cosplayed. After all, STALCRAFT was only originally conceived as a modification of Minecraft, but eventually turned into an independent product on its own game engine. One way or another, the game of the target audience still went. Online is at the level of 3.5-4 thousand, and most of the reviews are positive.

All in all, this MMOFPS with Survival Horror elements combines an open world, RPG and fast-paced shooter. Players spend time in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone participating in PvP and PvE activities such as finding artifacts, hunting mutants, exploring locations, and completing quests. There is an intriguing storyline with cutscenes and voice-overs, a weapon balance reminiscent of shooters like Call of Duty, and PvP in an open world with the ability to join warring factions.

    Play now

    Final Fantasy XIV

Final Fantasy XIV was released back in 2014, but online with 27k players it seems to hint that it is not just playable, but is one of the most popular MMORPGs in the world. More than 82% of users on Steam have responded positively to this game lately. Updates are released regularly.

In this epic MMORPG, players from all over the world can explore the open world and seek adventure together. The Launch Edition includes two games: FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn and the first expansion, FINAL FANTASY XIV: Heavensward. The number of players (according to the developers) is more than 25 million. The game offers adventures that reach heaven and beyond (whatever that means 🤨). The bundle also includes a 30-day free subscription period for all new accounts. In any case, at the time of updating the collection …

    PLAY NOW

    Fallout 76

Fallout 76 is also marketed as an MMORPG, and most players recognize it as such. Therefore, the game is simply impossible not to be included in this TOP, since it has about 12 thousand players online.

Fallout 76 is a huge open world from the creators of Skyrim and Fallout 4, where players enter the surface of a post-apocalyptic America 25 years after a nuclear war. Here you can explore the radioactive wastelands, complete quests, build and fight dangerous mobs together or alone. There are live quests and engaging characters, seasonal reward boards, multiplayer role-playing interactions, diverse regions of West Virginia, and a C.A.M.P. building system. to create shelters and trade with other survivors. In general, something like Fallout 4, but on the Internet.

    PLAY NOW

    Summoners War: Chronicles

There was a mobile Summorners War gacha, and then suddenly the developers thought: “Why not create an MMORPG?” This is how Summoners War: Chronicles appeared, a role-playing game with cartoonish (to some extent even anime) graphics and huge online for 30 thousand live players. On Steam, the game received a warm welcome – more than 89% of the reviews are positive. What is the game about?

Summoners War: Chronicles is an Action RPG where players explore the conflicts and decisions that defined the world of the original Summoners War: Sky Arena. The game offers a choice of one of three Summoners with unique abilities, assembling a team of more than 350 monsters and participating in real-time battles. Players travel across a vast world spanning multiple continents, exploring dungeons, fighting against friends in raids, and competing against other players in the arena as they uncover the history of the Kingdom of Rachel.

    Play Now

    Phantasy Star Online 2

Cute MMORPG in anime style. It features high-quality graphics, but at the same time serious system requirements – it is recommended to have an Intel Core i9 processor and 16 GB of RAM. Players have to explore a vast world, get food, fight huge monsters.

The gameplay is a ferocious mixture of Warframe, Diablo and Monster Hunter World. Here you have tons of builds for all kinds of weapons, and free hunting for monsters, and battles with huge bosses, and collecting loot with processing for resources. However, it is not so easy to understand the game yourself, therefore it is recommended to carefully read all the initial quests. One problem: the Russian language of the player is not supported, so the younger generation of gamers will have a hard time. Online about 2-2.5 thousand people according to Steam.

    PLAY NOW

    Tower of Fantasy

It seems that the anime era has reigned on the planet, because games in this style have become more frequent lately. So a relatively fresh MMORPG with the formidable name Tower of Fantasy has filled this niche with another open world of the future, inhabited by big-eyed “tanks” (or whatever they are called? 😁)

Tower of Fantasy is an MMORPG that takes place hundreds of years in the future on a distant planet Aida. The game is designed in the style of post-apocalyptic science fiction with free character development and a good combat system. People moved to Hades due to the depletion of the Earth’s resources, after which they discovered an unknown powerful energy “Omnium”. However, due to the Omnium’s radiation, a catastrophe occurred in their new homeland. The game features a huge open world, unique characters, cooperative exploration and epic battles. Online according to Steam – 1.5-2k players, and the reviews lately are mixed.

    PLAY NOW

    Warframe

You will say “Well, what kind of MMORPG is this ?!”, and you will be right. But it is simply impossible not to include Warframe in this rating. Many beginners are repelled by strange, at first glance, graphics. What are the strange creatures in the screenshots? Are they heroes or … who in general? It’s simple: these are warframes – living exoskeletons that enter into symbiosis with the operator (a humanoid character from the Tenno race). Each player can get any warframes in the collection and freely switch between them.

Battles take place in a cooperative format “4 players against endless waves of monsters. ” Weapons in the game sea for every taste. If you want a grenade launcher – for God’s sake. A bow with detonating arrows is easy. Machine guns / machine guns / PP – dozens of types. Except that there are no grenades. But the warframes themselves can cause fire rain, install turrets, become invisible, and much more.

According to the results of our comparisons, the game is one of the most popular in the world, so we strongly recommend that you take a closer look at it. The graphics here are specific, but you will get an unimaginable amount of positive emotions. Even though it’s not a MMORPG in the classic sense, you’ll constantly encounter new players in co-op, trade at the Clan’s Dojo and Bazaar, and roam cities filled with other players. RPG elements are also present in Warframe, so in general it can be attributed to this genre, albeit with a very big stretch.

    PLAY NOWDetailed review of

    Albion Online

Albion is a sandbox MMORPG whose motto is “You are what you wear. ” Indeed, the game completely lacks the division into traditional classes. Instead, skills and perks are built right into the items of equipment. Thus, by wearing a combination of certain items, the player can get the necessary skills and parameters of the hero.

But the world of Albion is cruel and unforgiving. It is divided into sectors. There are peaceful ones, in which PVP is prohibited, there are combat ones, where anyone can kill you with impunity. And there are the most dangerous ones, in which, upon death, you will lose everything that was in your inventory. But Albion has a deep crafting system, mining, cutting trees, developing your small estate and a fairly large open world.

    RuneScape

Do you think this old MMORPG comes from 2001, which was suddenly re-released in 2020, no one plays? No matter how! Online on Steam – 4000 players and 73% positive reviews. Updates continue to come out, which means RuneScape is alive and you can safely play it.

RuneScape is an online fantasy world with a long history in which players explore the mysterious Gielinor. Here you can complete tasks, farm or fight bosses. There are 28 skills available in the game, including craft, hunting, magic and others. Players fight against various opponents such as demons, dragons and monsters. RuneScape is free to play but offers additional content including 8 additional skills, over 120 quests and full access to the world map.

    PLAY NOW

    STAR WARS: The Old Republic

You say “old!”, and there are 6 thousand players online. Also updates almost every month. If this is not “relevance”, then what is? 🙄

SWTOR is a free MMORPG. Players can become Jedi, Sith, bounty hunters, or choose other roles from the STAR WARS universe. The game offers 8 unique storylines, 16 combat styles and 6 narrative expansions, allowing adventurers to create their own story on the light or dark side of the Force.

A variety of planets are available to explore, such as Hoth, Tatooine, Alderaan and over 20 others. You can fight with friends against enemies in flashpoints, operations, or participate in PvP battles in arenas and space missions. There are galactic havens to take a break from adventures, and there is a Cartel Market for unique items. Additional features are available to subscribers, including access to all expansion packs, level cap increases, and monthly bonuses.

    PLAY NOWDetailed review of

    World of Warcraft

Without exaggeration, the most famous project in the world and does not think to become obsolete. Based on the Warcraft universe, they even shot the film of the same name and are going to shoot the second one. The only reason why this wonderful game is not in 1st place is that it is paid. To plunge into this magical world, you will have to pay a tidy sum every month, which not everyone can afford.

Other than that, WOW is one of the prettiest, most interesting, and most addictive MMORPGs the world has seen this millennium. The gameplay is tied to the confrontation between the Horde and the Alliance, and players with the included “war mode” can fight each other in an open world. However, there is a special arena for real gladiators in the game.

“The mice cried, pricked themselves, but continued to eat the cactus” – this is how you can describe the players of MIR4. The fact is that the game has only 65% positive reviews on Steam, and online – 34k. What is so interesting about this game?..

MIR4 is an open world adventure where players can choose their path: a peaceful life with hunting, gathering resources and crafting, or participating in massive PvP battles with other clans. The game offers 4 character classes, great (in the humble opinion of the developers themselves) graphics on the Unreal Engine 4 engine and an unprecedented loot system where everyone has the right to take loot, even if they did not participate in the battle.

MIR4 has resource gathering, ore mining, and crafting skills. The basis of the game’s economy is the Hidden Valley, the capture and holding of which during the weekly event brings rewards and taxes from the territory’s income to the owners. The game also features castle sieges, winning which grants the clan glory and economic benefits until they are overthrown. In addition, MIR4 is a cross-platform MMORPG available on PC and mobile devices.

    Lineage 2

Old lady L2 will never die! As soon as the players start to get bored with the usual gameplay, as the developers of the world famous MMORPG Lineage 2 roll out something new. Since the time of the notorious “Interlude”, the game has changed so much that there is absolutely nothing left of the “line” we loved. Endless leveling, some sky-high grades of weapons and armor, skills that are fantastic in their imbalance, auto-combat and much more…

In addition to mainstream-L2, side projects-offshoots began to appear regularly. For example, Lineage 2 Essence was not a very successful attempt to combine interlude with auto farming. And how many pirated PVP servers with all sorts of modifications in the spirit of GVE thrive on the Internet to this day . .. And if dear reader thinks that this game was in the rating for nothing, let him first remember hundreds of pirated servers for every taste: PVP x1200, GvE , BSFG, with additions and others.

In short, Lineage 2 is a game that everyone should get to know. If the words “spoil”, “hawk” and “varka” do not bring back pleasant memories for you, you don’t know anything about MMORPG 😁.

    Royal Quest

Royal Quest is an old but still alive top-down MMORPG in the spirit of the good old Ragnarok Online. Royal Quest could become one of the best online role-playing games in the world, but the project’s aggressive forms of monetization, as well as the lack of updates and a large-scale advertising campaign, are doing their job. And now how many years have passed, and things are still there …

But even despite the greed and laziness of the developers, the game continues to live and replenish with new players thanks to colorful graphics, unique lamp atmosphere and unique mechanics. Where else can you equip a sniper with a real firearm? Where else can you collect half the location with a wizard, and then slam the fiery rain and enjoy a rich drop? Where else can you arm yourself with cathars and beat the victim with them for a few seconds, like a real Wolverine? This is only possible in Royal Quest. And therefore, it is doubly painful to watch how developers ignore the project and its players.

Online in the game is still large, and the peak is in the evenings. If you decide to start playing, we recommend the Sniper or the Hunter, and the server is, of course, Granas.

    Black Desert Online

Black Desert Online is a unique game of its kind. The first thing that catches your eye upon entering is modern graphics with very beautiful effects and shaders. At the moment, the game has more than 20 game classes for every taste: archers, swordsmen, and wizards.

It is interesting that the NON-Target combat system operates in Black Desert, so you will have to aim at opponents with handles. Also, the guys will definitely appreciate the melee class, tied to melee attacks and kicks from the turntable. There are not so many in the MMORPG world where you can fight with your hands, like in the real Mortal Kombat.

PVP content in the game is not too much, but for fans of PVE BDO will be a real paradise. Here you can travel on horseback, and trade by transporting goods between major cities, and buy a ship for fishing on the high seas, and equip your own apartment in the center of any city. In a word, the game is very worthwhile, therefore we advise you to familiarize yourself with it if you have not played it before.

    GUILD WARS 2

Is it possible not to include a game with online under 5 thousand players in the selection of the best MMORPGs of the year 23? Despite the fact that the game is over 12 years old, it still continues to delight fans of the genre with a huge open world filled with amazing adventures. Or at least that’s what we’re promised…

Guild Wars 2 is an MMORPG with an emphasis on exploring the open world of Tyria. The game offers a variety of tasks and dynamic events. Interaction with other players does not require joining a group, and gaining experience is possible for performing various actions. The game provides extensive character customization options, with different weapons, skills and traits. Purchasing add-ons expands the functionality of the game, provides new rewards and masteries, and unlocks specializations and professions.

    Lost Ark

Lost Ark is what would happen if someone decided to combine Royal Quest, Path of Exile and some Blade and Soul: top view, serious graphics, unusual monsters, jump attacks and attractive characters. The passage of the plot in this game is tied to the discovery of new continents. Rumor has it that the plot is really interesting, but few people are interested in it in MMORPGs – it just so happened . ..

First of all, the game will appeal to “researchers” – those who like to travel through an endless number of different locations, study new mechanics, get all sorts of unique gizmos for their further study. The graphics in the game are very worthwhile. Huge monsters, including dragons, look like colossi against the background of fragile characters. There is also a variety of builds in the game, so if POE somehow went wrong, you can try Lost Ark as a viable alternative. Suddenly like it.

    ArcheAge

ArcheAge is one of the few MMORPGs where PVP is really a lot and makes sense. Here you will find rewards for killing enemies of another faction, and naval battles, and transitions between servers, and a bunch of unrealistically beautiful mounts. One of the features of the game is that there is no need to pump out several heroes. One character is enough to cover the entire content of the game.

With the latest updates, ArcheAge has become much easier for new players. There are magicians, and swordsmen, and even shooters with a firearm. Another aspect that will please many is the ability to fly on mounts, such as griffins. Have you ever piloted a pirate ship in an MMORPG? Did they attack opponents on the high seas?

ArcheAge is definitely worth the attention of MMORPG fans. Even donation here does not affect the gameplay as much as in most similar games. Therefore, you can boldly rush in.

    Blade And Soul

Blade and Soul is no longer a new game, but still relatively relevant. Unfortunately, it is impossible to judge online due to the lack of a game on Steam. But judging by the fact that the game is still being actively updated and supported by developers, it is doing quite well. Here we have 4 races and many classes, and the characters look quite nice. Unlike many MMORPGs where you just scroll through the story, B&S is really fun to explore. There will be cut scenes, dialogues, and difficult decisions.

The game has nice graphics – I want to take a screenshot in almost every location. The combat system is made in Asian style: jumps, lightning attacks, hurricane combos – everything that we love hack-n-slash for. Experienced players note that the battles in the Arena are as fair as possible due to the averaging of the parameters of the characters. But there is also a massive PVP, where you can shoot plenty of opponents.

    Astellia Online

Not a bad MMORPG, which was well advertised, but which did not live up to the expectations of the players. Here the gameplay is tied to the interaction with pets – astels. Their players can call to help themselves in battle, and this is the main feature of the game. A maximum of three astells can be summoned in a battle at once.

Astellas are collected in the same way as it is implemented in the CCG. Astellas are strengthened at the expense of copy cards. Also, each of them has 3 appearances that affect the parameters. Otherwise, Astellia Online is a completely ordinary MMORPG. There are dungeons, there is a big open world. The graphics are cute, and the voice acting is anime-flavored.

    Perfect World

Believe it or not, it’s still being played! You can check YouTube and see for yourself 😮. Perfect World has been alive since 2008 and flatly refuses to become a thing of the past. Servers are constantly being merged, and players are still ready to spend time in this old but lamp MMORPG. Since the game is already in its second decade (or third?.. 🙄), you definitely shouldn’t expect something supernatural from it. Here is a very mediocre graphics, angular characters and not the biggest online. But for those who started playing PW at launch, this is still their home world. And yes, there are updates.

    PLAY NOWDetailed review

In general, these are all relevant MMORPGs as of now. Of course, there are actually many more. However, it makes no sense to include old games with online up to 2k in the selection, because everyone already knows about them: Neverwinter, Warspear Online, Star Trek Online and others.

    Conclusion

In addition to these games, dozens of other MMORPGs are released every year. However, those collected here are the brightest representatives of their genres and subgenres today. We did not include all kinds of survival offshoots like Rust or Wild Terra 2 in this top due to the fact that in such games, leveling up the character’s skills does not really matter, if not completely absent. Everything in them is tied to crafting, building, finding equipment and meeting the basic needs of the protagonist.

As for the listed games, not all of them can be strictly attributed to the MMORPG, but most of the players will definitely like them. And if they don’t force you to live online for days, then at least they will drag you out for many wonderful hours. Do not forget to write in the comments what you think about these games. Everyone will be interested in reading. Good luck!
