Modern ozone-friendly freons are unique mixtures, the molecular structure of which is the product of interaction several types of substances.

At the moment, R134A and R-410A are the most common types of safe freons. The first was originally developed with the aim of functional replacement of R22.

Unfortunately, it was not possible to obtain the same evaporation temperature for all components. R-410A – differs from its counterpart in that it demonstrates the same evaporation rates of the components. However, its use is exacerbated by the fact that it has twice the boiling point. Because of this, the working pressure of refrigeration equipment has increased to 28 atmospheres. The presence of a directly proportional dependence of the pressure level on the temperature of the refrigerant excludes the possibility of using this substance in air conditioning systems that were developed for R22. When using R-410A in modern models, it is necessary to use more durable materials of manufacture, as well as to increase the overall power rating in refrigeration compressors.

For a more complete understanding of the technological and operational properties of freon, it is necessary to familiarize yourself with its structure at the molecular level. This information will allow you to understand the technological nuances associated with the operation of freon in refrigeration systems.

Freon: physical properties of the substance

The molecular composition plays the main role, on which the boiling point of freon depends. It should be noted that the occurrence of a higher pressure level in the refrigeration system, together with a large amount of a substance that has passed into a gaseous state, depends only on the value of the boiling point.

It is proportional to all the listed indicators: with its growth, the other elements will show increased values.

It’s no secret that the presence of high pressure implies excessive requirements for the design and technical parameters of the refrigeration unit: the quality of hoses, pipes, the compressor power indicator, the level of strength of the freon pumping line, the material of manufacture, etc.

It should also be noted that in the CIS countries, R22 is the most common type of freon. Most of the leading countries have switched to more ozone-friendly substances, but our regions still use this type of refrigerant in refrigeration equipment.

In the event that R22 is represented as a reference unit, it can be seen that 16 atmospheres is completely enough to maintain normal operating conditions of the cooling system. Based on the information received, specialized manufacturing companies developed designs for many models of air conditioners, refrigerators, compressors, etc. It was the dependence of the pressure level on the presence of the refrigerant temperature that served as the main reference point for the implementation of all projects for the creation of refrigeration systems.

Throughout the development of refrigeration units, about 40 different types of freons have appeared, while each substance has different physical properties (condensing temperature and its own boiling point).
