What order to watch X-Men
Likbez
Movie
January 14,
To complete the picture, you can even study Doctor Strange.
The X-Men is one of the most famous team of heroes that has not always been lucky in film adaptations. The constant reboots of the franchise have made it difficult to build a timeline that is relevant to all of the characters. If you want to know how it all began, it is better to watch the films in a special order, ignoring the release dates.
1. X-Men: First Class
X‑Men: First Class
- US, UK, 2011
- Fantasy, action.
- Duration: 131 minutes.
- IMDb: 7.7.
Charles Xavier and Eric Lehnsherr join forces to find other people with supernatural powers. They want to stop a mutant scientist who threatens the existence of the entire world.
“X-Men: First Class” – the earliest film about the events unfolding in the universe of Charles Xavier. Most of them take place at 1962 years old. Not only the search for mutants is shown, but also their acquaintance with each other.
2. X-Men: The Beginning. Wolverine
X‑Men Origins: Wolverine
- USA, UK, 2009.
- Fantasy, action.
- Duration: 107 minutes.
- IMDb: 6.5.
Two mutant brothers, Logan and Victor, born about two centuries ago, live from war to war. Together they go through Vietnam, and then they quarrel. The conflict between the brothers becomes the main theme of the film.
“X-Men: The Beginning. Wolverine tells the story of Wolverine. The events of the film begin in 1845, but the main action takes place in 1979, when Wolverine has already lost his memory. This is the first spin-off dedicated to a single hero.
3. X-Men: Apocalypse
X-Men: Apocalypse
- USA, 2016.
- Fantasy, action.
- Duration: 143 minutes.
- IMDb: 6.9.
Apocalypse is the most powerful of all mutants. He gathered the strengths of other beings and people, but became disillusioned with the way the world had become. Now, having teamed up with other powerful mutants, he wants to cleanse the universe and create a new order, where he himself will be at the head. The X-Men need to figure out how to stop Apocalypse.
The film is set in 1983. “X-Men: Apocalypse” continues the events that took place in “X-Men: First Class” and introduces the viewer to new heroes.
4. X-Men: Dark Phoenix
Dark Phoenix
- USA, Canada, 2019.
- Fantasy, action.
- Duration: 113 minutes.
- IMDb: 5.9.
youtube.com/embed/X5ST3VNfYVI” frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen=”allowfullscreen”>
Jean Gray is exposed to a dark force that destroys everything in its path. She cannot cope with it, and a new danger threatens the whole world. Now her friends have to make a difficult choice – to save the universe or their loved one.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix is the last film featuring young mutants. The action of the picture takes place in 1992.
5. X-Men
X-Men
- USA, 2000.
- Fantasy, action.
- Duration: 105 minutes.
- IMDb: 7.3.
Mutants and humans are forced to live together. Charles Xavier organized a school where he helps gifted beings use their power for the benefit of all mankind. But Magneto is dissatisfied with the state of affairs and intends to change his status.
The film takes place in the year 2000. In order for the chronology to be preserved, when viewing, you need to ignore the final picture of “X-Men: Dark Phoenix” – there are several inconsistencies.
6. X-Men – 2
X2
- USA, Canada, 2003.
- Fantasy, action.
- Duration: 134 minutes.
- IMDb: 7.4.
Anti-mutant protests start everywhere, led by ex-military Stryker. He attacks Professor X’s school and kidnaps him. Mutants will have to team up with their old enemy Magneto in order to confront the whole world and save the school and friends.
X-Men 2 takes place in 2003 and continues the plot of the previous film.
7. X-Men: The Last Stand
X‑Men: The Last Stand
- Canada, UK, 2006.
- Fantasy, action.
- Duration: 100 minutes.
- IMDb: 6.6.
People create a “cure” to help mutants become normal. Some people like the idea, but Magneto is still confident that a war is coming, so no need to give away superpowers. Jean Gray returns to life, but in the guise of a Phoenix. Her dark powers are capable of destroying everything, including other mutants.
The film takes place in 2006. This is the last part of the original trilogy. The story will be developed in spin-offs, as well as in a complete restart of the franchise.
8. Wolverine: Immortal
The Wolverine
- USA, UK, Japan, 2013.
- Fantasy, action.
- Duration: 126 minutes.
- IMDb: 6.7.
Wolverine comes to Japan to visit his old friend whom he once saved. On this trip, he is drawn into a conflict involving mutants and yakuza.
The film takes place in 2013. Wolverine: Immortal is the sequel to the finale of X-Men: The Last Stand. Wolverine will have to not only fight enemies, but also come to terms with the death of Jean Grey.
9. Deadpool
Deadpool
- USA, 2016.
- Fantasy, action.
- Duration: 108 minutes.
- IMDb: 8.0.
Wade Wilson is a former mercenary, a mutant he became as a result of an experiment. He received superpowers, but his face is disfigured, so Wade puts on a mask and takes on an alias. Deadpool wants to track down whoever did the experiment on him.
“Deadpool” is only tangentially connected to the X-Men’s temporary universe. But if we track the intersections, then the events conditionally occur in 2016. The film also references characters from other X-Men films.
10. The New Mutants
The New Mutants
- USA, 2020.
- Fantasy, action.
- Duration: 94 minutes.
- IMDb: 5.3.
Five young mutants are locked in a hospital. They cannot get out of there – they are held by force. Mutants will have to deal with their new abilities and find a way out of the hospital.
The New Mutants timeline was originally planned to take place in the 90s, but the plot was later changed. There is no link to the general timeline, but the events indirectly indicate that this is approximately 2017.
11. Deadpool 2
Deadpool 2
- USA, Canada, 2018.
- Fantasy, action.
- Duration: 119 minutes.
- IMDb: 7.7.
youtube.com/embed/GNodq__TAow” frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen=”allowfullscreen”>
Deadpool gathers a team of like-minded mutants. He wants to save a boy with supernatural powers from a cruel cyborg time traveler. The heroes will have to unite, which is not an easy task due to the nasty nature of Deadpool.
The film takes place in 2018. This sequel has a small cameo of young mutants, so Deadpool 2 completes the universe.
12. Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
Doctor Strange teams up with the girl he saved. A teenager knows how to open doors to other multiverses. Together they will face numerous threats, including other versions of themselves.
There are no obvious references to the X-Men universe in the film, but a cameo of Charles Xavier, Professor X, in a wheelchair can be seen. Another picture that complements the world of mutants.
13. Logan
Logan
- USA, 2017.
- Fantasy, action.
- Duration: 137 minutes.
- IMDb: 8.1.
In the distant future, Logan, Wolverine, leads a calm and measured life. The mutants have already died out, he himself has grown old. Suddenly, a mutant child, who is being pursued by scientists, turns to him for help. Logan decides to get the little girl to safety.
The film takes place in 2029. It shows all the canonical deaths of the main characters of the franchise, and the picture itself is considered one of the best in the entire X-Men series. X-Men: Days of Future Past
The X-Men are forced to send Wolverine back in time to change the course of history. He must prevent an event that resulted in the death of not only mutants, but also people.
“X-Men: Days of Future Past” is a film that may be the second in the chronology, and the last. Most of the events take place in 1973, where Wolverine is sent from 2023. It cancels many events that have occurred in other parts, so it makes sense to watch it as the last one, even if it formally precedes the plot of Logan.

X-Men mutant classification: all six classes
Updated:
When Stan Lee and Jack Kirby first gave us the X-Men, they simply imagined that there would be a few rare people born with a special mutation that would give them an extra power or quality that made them stand out.
As the problems continued, we learned that there were still many mutants out there, so much so that many people were afraid of being replaced or defeated.
The world of the X-Men has evolved quite a bit in the last few decades. We have learned that each mutant, along with unique brain wave patterns, is born with a mysterious X gene that causes them to have abilities normally activated at puberty. And we’ve seen from the beginning that not all mutants are cut from the same tissue. Some look just like us, while others can pass for aliens, demons, or animals.
Over time, a classification system emerged that simply helped the X-Men, along with agencies like S.H.I.E.L.D., keep track of who had what core traits and power levels. Of course, they are not set in stone, as some mutants later use an invisible force, are genetically altered by external forces, or experience secondary mutations that change their nature and, as a result, put them in a different classification. .
So, for your convenience, here are the six main categories of mutants in the Marvel Comics universe.
Alpha level
An Alpha level mutant is someone who looks no different from any other human and whose abilities are quite effective in combat. Also, they don’t have any restrictions on them as a result of their X-gene.
Kitty Pryde looks like any normal lady and can walk through walls. The Dazzler appears to be no different, but can absorb sound waves and redirect them as light or lasers. Colossus looks like a living metal man when he uses his power, but then he can turn it off and resume looking like a normal person..
Mutant Rogue is now an alpha level mutant, as she can control her power, but was once a beta level.
Beta level
Beta level mutants are similar to alphas, but with a catch. While they may pass for human at first glance, close examination reveals that they have some odd trait that makes them stand out as an eye color that doesn’t usually appear in humans. A beta mutant can also be someone who is humble with a human, but has some limitations placed on him due to his power, such as being unable to make skin-to-skin contact (which describes Rogue’s condition for years).
Cyclops is a beta level, as he cannot turn off his powers and must always wear special lenses or a visor to control or contain him. Gambit can control his power and appears to be mostly human, but has red eyes and black sclera. Wolverine may appear human at first, but without being able to turn off his powers, he has an extra set of bones and muscles in each forearm, thus his famous retractable claws.
Gamma Level
Like Alphas and Betas, Gamma Level Mutants are quite handy in combat situations. But as a result of their X-gene, they cannot pass as human without some kind of disguise.
Blink’s power to create teleport discs and project energy makes her quite handy in combat. But along with that, she has lilac skin, eyes with no visible pupil or iris, pink hair, and strange markings on her face. Nightcrawler can cling to surfaces like Spider-Man and can teleport to places he has seen (within a limited radius) but was born like a demon, with indigo fur, only three numbers on each arm, two large numbers on each leg, empty golden eyes, elven ears, fangs and a prehensile tail.
Delta Level
Delta Level Mutants are those who, like Alphas and Betas, can pass for human at first glance. But unlike Alphas or Beths, their strength is not something obvious and automatically belligerent. Their abilities are more subtle, so much so that an outside observer cannot see the power in use. Delta mutants may not realize for years that they are, in fact, mutants due to the nature of their abilities..
Domino is a Delta mutant. When she detects an adrenaline rush, she triggers a chance to win in her favor within line of sight. But even this is not automatic, as she must actively take advantage of the “luck” she invokes. If Domino gets shot, she can’t just stand by and assume she’s missing a bullet. But if she starts to run away from those who shoot at her, she will find that most of the time she will behave narrowly, avoiding every shot. Another Delta mutant would be Forge, who can instinctively create and redesign machines without being told or even fully understanding how they work..
Epsilon level
Epsilon level mutants either have non-combat power or no real power at all, but are similar to Gamma level mutants in that they cannot hide that they are. Many examples of such mutants can be found among the Morlocks, a community that prefers to live in the sewers rather than among humanity.
The Tommy Morlocks had strange colored markings on their faces and could become flat at will. Artie Maddix’s X-Gene caused his body to change, turning him into a pink, hairless creature with growths on his head and large, blank eyes. Along with this, he lost the power of speech and could only communicate by projecting holograms of his thoughts. .
Omega level
These are the people who really scare normal people and government agencies. These are mutants whose level of power is such that they are considered the most serious threats, capable of widespread destruction and very difficult to destroy, contain or kill.
The apparent Omega-level mutant is Magneto, whose powers over magnetism result in a variety of abilities, as well as allowing him to manipulate the bound fields of gravity and electricity to a certain extent. Storm can be considered an Omega-level mutant, with her elemental manipulation (an ability she can’t completely turn off since her power is tied to her emotions). Iceman turns out to be another example of an Omega level mutant; although he looked more like an Alpha at first, Iceman has finally begun to reach his full potential over the past few years, demonstrating in recent times that he can create duplicates of himself to act as an army of organic ice creatures.
